This is a really silly thing about which to be annoyed, but the term "netizen" is pretty darned irritating. It's a cutesy term that is way overused in Korea.

I know the term isn't uniquely Korean, at least according to Wiki, but wow, it seems like Koreans use it all the darned time.

Does anyone have any other terms that are annoying to them? I'd be interested in hearing what "cutesy/clever" words annoy you guys..

I like 'netizens' because we can use it disparagingly here and they like it.

Use of the pronoun "we" when refering to pregnancy.

For sure. I love it. Rolling Eyes

"We're having a baby!" the happy husband gushes.

To which I respond:

"No as$-clown, YOU aren't having anything. It's your wife that's squeezing out the bloody alien. You knocked HER up (or so you think,) you didn't both get fertilized!"

That's a dick thing to say.

"Having a baby" implies more than just the birthing process.

Yeah, but "we" aren't pregnant. "She" is pregnant. That "we" business is just another example of the long-happening emasculation of men.

Men don't say, "we're on our period." Men don't complain about being bloated. So men can't get pregnant either.

It's pretty annoying how just about every single American TV commercial for just about any kind of home or food product shows men being complete idiots compared to the woman. And little boys are supposed to be "sensitive."

It's like those stupid soccer games kids play in the US where they don't even keep score because "everyone's a winner." They don't want to hurt little junior's feelings. Blah. A bunch of touchy-feeley crap. Kids should play sports to win. You learn just as much from defeat as you do victory. You learn nothing when you never risk losing, except maybe how to hug a lot and reduce your carbon footprint.

Bollucks!

Men get women pregnant. The man and the woman become the parents. The man should be a dad and not a hairy version of mom.

"We" aren't pregnant.

Here is a brilliant article saying things better than I could:

Right. Couples "have babies" and either husband or wife can say "we're having a baby". If the husband said "We're giving birth", then you can slug him. But is that really what husbands say? Never heard it.

cutesy/clever? I can't think of any. Oh, I got one! White chicks referring to their breasts as "the girls". Meant to be funny & cute, but it really isn't.

The word netizens makes me think of the Borg in Star Trek and when they say "You will be assimilated, resistance is futile!".

The most annoying attempt at Political Correctness has to be when the majority of US citizens are described as "European Americans" regarding their race. What makes it even more troubling is when White people use it.

If Blacks want to be known as "African Americans," that's their choice. But to then change EVERYONE'S ethnic name to appease a minority also wreaks of racism. I'm White, I prefer to be known as White. YOUR turn to deal with the stigma!

Speaking of political correctness, my college's newspaper REALLY embarrassed themselve by calling EVEYONE ******-American, even those that weren't. A student from Ghana was still an "African-American" graduate student from Ghana.

Ooooh, now we're talking race. Yes, racism is annoying and it's prevalent in this strange land of netizens who all look like drones with black hair with a few exceptions such as senior citizens. Foreigners not welcome in their cyber world so I'll stay in the Western realm of the internet as I couldn't play their online PC bang games. Since old people don't normally use hand phones and computer, they're senior citizens, but I bet they're are many old netizens, especially in Seoul.

A couple years ago there was a short-lived campaign to promote more kindness among the netizens of Korea by asking them to be 'goodtizens'. The catchy name never stuck.

There's a thread about it buried somewhere on this site.
