And what exactly is a sound booth? perhaps you might want to be a bit more descriptive as many may not know what it is.
Are you talking about ADOBE SOUNDBOOTH CS4? or an actual soundbooth housing?

No I haven't seen it. I don't live in Seoul. I am trying to buy a used one. New one's start at 4M. There's a used market but it involves Korean skills. I have asked at least a half a dozen koreans to help me. They all say they would be delighted to help. Then they don't do anything I offer to pay. They refuse, saying they will help me for free. Then they don't help I've been at it for three months now.

At that price, I think it would be cheaper to rent a small 1-room somewhere with no neighbors! |

It's for recording as well as practicing. An empty one room would sound awful, most likely.

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but I've tested those sound booths at Yongsan, and they're not for recording, IMHO. They don't sound all that great inside... they block a lot of noise, but are still rather small and will produce a "box effect" that wouldn't sound so good if you were recording. I'd bet you'd need to add some additional wall treatment to clear it up enough for professional sound. |

4 million won sounds like a lot to pay for a sound booth. for that price, why not book some time at a pro studio? there are some decent low- to mid-range recording studios in hongdae. if you want to record at home, you could buy some electronic drums and a DI box and record silently. if you're looking for a less reflective room, i'd hang up some curtains or foam padding to block the hard surfaces in your apartment. or just say f it and do the best you can with what you have. you're not going to get pro sound recording in your apartment, anyway. |
