|

Cannot find any holes in the springs, but am getting little flies like fruit flies ..very tiny ..coming in the apt..thought bed bugs...due to the bites on my legs..but every stick of furniture in here is new..and a brand new bed...just started the new job ..
so..how to get the screens re-screened or put some covering on them to avoid being bit? |

I've actually done this many times in various Jugong apts throughout Korea.
It's quite cheap and easy to do yourself. Go to a hardware store and buy screen, a screening tool, and the tubing stuff that you use to push the screen into the gaps. Take off the whole screen panel, place the screen over it, and use the screening tool to insert the tubing. Replace screen.
The nice thing is that all these items are incredibly cheap in Korea... |

Care to make a youtube video of this solution? I can't quite follow you. What is a "screening tool" and "screen panel"? The screen windows I have had a thick white rim around it. I would have to cut it up with scissors or a knife, making the landlArd quite upset. |

Usually the screen is on a metal frame that slides in a track on the windowsill. You have to push up to remove the frame. Turn it around and it will have the screen pushed into those grooves with the plastic tubing. Remove all of that.
A screening tool is just a wooden handle with a rolling metal circle (about 6 cm diamter) on one end.
IF, however, your screen is tacked onto the window, this solution will not work.
Maybe ask, or gesticulate, at the hardware store? |

Mine is tacked onto the window..open said window and the screen drops down and latches. It is inside a wooden frame. |

Are your screens flush with the frame?
You may need to pack some styrofoam or something to ensure they are flush fitting with the frame.
This solved most of our fly problems.
Keep any food waste in a bag clipped shut, and preferably in the laundry area if you can. |

Two other quick issues for you to be aware of. They may not apply.
Many screens and windows have drainage holes near the bottom that make them less effective. Taping over these can help.
Secondly the fruit flyish things could also be coming from your drain. Probably the bathroom. Putting some screen over you main drain might help. |
