If it was, it wasn't original with Bush.
That verse is from the Bible:
"He that is not with me is against me." Matthew 12:30

I'd like to be with you, rubbing against you. |

And a dandy verse it is, too.
It gives Christians a perfect excuse to go out and kill everybody who disagrees with them. |
Bible, Bush, diarrhea, ... |

Only if you take it completely out of the context of the rest of the things that the speaker (Jesus) said.
After all, when asked which commandments were the most important, Jesus said "first love the lord your God with all of your heart, soul, and mind" and secondly "love thy neighbor as thyself."
You can't exactly love your neighbor and justify killing him just because he disagrees with you. |

That's what anti-theists do.
They read religious passages on their terms and with the least generous interpretations; and lo and behold, they find them lacking. |

Theists are just as guilty of interpreting scripture to suit their own agenda. |

I see open mindedness as willing and able to understand something or someone from their perspective and then make an objective fair analysis of the situation and a close minded person is someone who won't listen or consider making an attempt to understand the opposite of themselves.
For example, international travel and working abroad requires an open mind, becuase you have to be willing to take initiative to understand their situations and their perceptive on how and why they do things different than you're accustomed to.
And open minded foreign teacher in Korea doesn't get upset about last minute changes while a close minded teacher gets offended. I understand the last minute issue having to do with lack of interest in planning, lack of interest in you, and a lack of interest in work, but will stay at work most waking hours of their entire lives. I'm only wondering if Koreans also don't communicate well with each other and wait until the last minute to announce changes that could had easily been communicated at an earlier time. This one I yet to better understand.
Being open or close minded changes from time to time, variable, in everyone depending on how they feel, they're financial and health conditions, and having balance or a lack of balance in their lives. Some very open minded people are close minded when they're having problems like a divorce process or stuck in a job they don't like or having money problems. At times, I'm very open minded and much more free spirited while other times I'm very closed minded and conservative; it all depends on the situations and conditions at hand. |

Some theists, true.
There are enough believers who combine heavy doses of reason with revelation.
And the anti-theists are doing such a poor job at PR, that the tides are already washing back on them as it already has on the American evangelist whackjobs. Even on this forum the tide has turned. |

It's far more likely than communicating with my students
