Hey all! was wondering am I getting screwed here! My shower has like 3 seconds of hot water and then luke warm to cold, its a major pain in the ass! Ive told my director twice and the second time after the first telling me to try a few different things, she said that it was just set up this way. I find that hard to beleive! Im a pretty tough guy and my apartments kind of a rathole compared to the one other Ive seen. or am I being a puss or what! Id like some opinions before I barge in there and tell them to get a f--g plumber over there and get my shower water up to speed. I realize hot showers are a luxury, but damn thats one luxury thats hard to give up! |

I am in a brand new apt and this is what I do. Due to the nature of how water is heated in Korea I have fount that if I turn on the hot water at its lowest trickle and leave it that way for 3-4 minutes. By now the heater will be really hot. I then adjust the flow to a fairly normal level and get about 8 minutes of full on hot water, then 2-3 of warm, then lukewarm..
Annoying isnt it? |

I wonder what she meant? "just set up this way"..That's a tough one!
I think she means your body is too big and the shower is set up for smaller bodies, you're too large and it's your fault. |

I feel your pain. I once lived in a place with only 1 min. of hot water in the winter. The summers were fine...all the hot water I wanted. When asked, the powers that be said it was too expensive to heat lots of water in the winter.
If it's any comfort to you, and I know it isn't, I now live in a place with unlimited hot water.
Until your situation is remedied, all I can suggest is a public bath. |

They are usually pretty good at the gym, which is adequate motivation to get me to go there pretty much every day. |

I live in older style "villa" apartment and these days there's ice in the bathroom ( ), and I was always having showers turn cold on me when I've got a headful of soaped-up shampoo, then I found that Lush's method works really well. Give it a go and good luck... failing that... get down to the gym or your local sauna. |

don't turn it on full...leave it about 1/2 way.. if i put mine on full, it is just cold water but if i have it at about 1/2 way, i can shower as long as i want (which is usually bout 20 mins) in blistering hot water. it is prolly just too much volume for the heater to handle
i would suggest trying what lush and i have said. |

That's ridiculous. They must have you in a dump. Tell them hot water is supposed to be part of the deal. |

I have experienced the same problem in many different apartments - here is how I solve it - whilst taking a shower - I keep (continually) flushing the toilet. This then directs the cold water to the toilet system - as it is refilling and leaves me with only very warm to hot water coming from the shower.
Only problem - you have to have a decent (strong) water pressure - so you don't lose too much water pressure - when the cold water is diverted away.
P.S. - I can hear my neighbours (involuntarily) when they have a shower - and therefore I guess they can also hear me - so they probably think I am a bit strange when they hear the toilet flush 50 times during my shower - but hey - I get the hot water !!!

Everyone says the same thing, no hot water. And every yeogwan/ love hotel i've stayed in has the same problem... Hot water preference must be a truly cultural thing...wierd...cos i too thought it was a basic human necessity.
the flushing the toilet trick sounds good, I must try that. |

I live in a newer building and my problem is that the difference between cold and boiling is about 1mm. but when I find the right spot I can stand in there for an hour with no problems. |

Yeah, the showers in the Yogwans are bad as well. To get hot water you have to go to a real hotel. Spent a couple of night at the Hamilton in Itaewan last week. The only time I've had a hot shower since November. |

My shower actually felt too hot this morning. I have hot water, but only during certain times of the day. The pressure is good and I have a bathtub, but I hate having to plan the time for takng a shower. |
