I know about Pagoda, Direct English, English Channel, and YBM/SISA.

Any others you know of?

Thanks!

BCM, but I'd avoid them. There are also small non chain schools that teach adults around.

Kwak Yong-il (Franchise)
Global Language (Franchise)
ESS Language (Busan)
Mac's English (Seoul)
JC School (Seoul)
HiEnglish Corp (Incheon)
SLC Institute (Seoul)

There's a lot more out there, but that's all I can muster at the moment.

I don't know about all Global schools. But definitely do not ever work at Global in Gumi. It's hell on Earth to say the least. I worked at Global Jr in Gumi which was owned by the same people but was sold a few months into my contract to much better owners, thank God! I didn't have too many problems myself as my school was very small compared to the adult school where the boss and most of the staff were.

However, due to the connection I knew/know all the teachers who worked/work there. Nothing but problems. Teachers come and go all the time due to problems. They get cheated out of pay and vacation and just get treated like crap all around. This year alone at least half a dozen teachers have disappeared into the night.

In fact, recently I bumper into 2 teachers who did a runner last year. They said they had no problems getting new visas for another school. Once they went to immigration and said where they had worked, the immigration officer said "oh Global very very bad school".

Stay away!

Waedae in Jongno, Seoul is not bad from what I hear. I've met several people who work there and they don't have any major complaints.

Hi, are you the person that used to work in Gumi? How did you like it? What more do you know about the school that you mentioned in the post?
