Hello, I'm in a desperate situation. I was brought over to Seoul about four days ago by Chungdahm Learning. I was given my visa six or seven days ago in Chicago. Everything was fine. I get over here and they tell me something completely different than what they had told me over the phone. Namely, that I would be teaching 4-8 year olds instead of teenagers. I explicitly told them that I would not teach elementary age children. I told them that it was rather unacceptable and how I could go about changing locations to another Chungdahm franchise. They said that I would have to cancel my E-2 visa, go back to the USA, and reapply.
Is this true? What happens to people who are fired from an academy but still have a valid E-2 Visa? I wouldn't mind working for another company besides Chungdahm seeing as they've completely screwed me over. Does anyone have any idea what I can do in this situation? Who I should call, etc?
Thank you for your help. |

You won't have to go back to the USA; if they don't give you a letter of release, you need to cancel your current E-2, leave Korea, apply for another E-2, then go to a consulate abroad after you've got your confirmation number.
You can leave Korea and come back as a tourist if you want, and you can go to Japan; no reason to go all the way back to America. |
