My apartment is roasting right now. I can turn on the air conditioner, but the way the plugs are set, that means I can't have my mosquito repellent working at the same time (and you know how that gets). But it also seems kind of ridiculous to have the heater and air conditioner running at the same time. How do I keep the hot water running and cause the heater to turn off now that it's no longer necessary for the summer? |

The dial on the lower-right seems to be the important setting here. In the picture it appears to be correct though. The left position (난방 온수) indicates room heating and hot water, the right position (온수 전용) indicates hot water only.
The lower left dial can also help if your water heater uses a storage tank. It also already seems to be set in the best position in the picture. The left position (저온) indicates low heat, and the right position (고온) indicates high heat.
If your heating system is using a water storage tank and you have a small apartment, it's possible that the heated water itself is making your place hot. If possible, you could just turn it off until maybe 30 minutes before you're going to need hot water.

I am surprised that your apartment is hot because you've got the settings right. I had the same one - the only thing I can suggest is to turn the knob in the middle all the way down to the bottom.
From your picture, you don't have heating. |

You have the same control as my last apartment. It is an inline water heater. Only turn it on when you need hotwater, it takes less than a minute for hot water to come through.
From memory the control you need to flick from floor to only water is on the left. |

This is how my (identical) controller works. I have it set just like your pic and I don't have heating. If it's attached to instantaneous hot water (which everyone seems to have here), your best bet is what Black Jack said, and only turn it on just before you need it, then turn it off when you're done. This is annoying, but should see you through until you can get your school/landlord to fix it. Just in case you haven't worked it out, it's the in/out button at the top right. But there's definitely something screwy going on. You should not be getting heating with it set as you have it. |
