What ADHD medications are legal in Korea? Is Dexedrine still illegal? I was prescribed Dexedrine last year in the states and it worked well for me, but when my prescription ran out, I never bothered to go out of my way to get a new since I've been living in Korea.
I read something online that said Dexedrine was illegal here, but the post was years old, has anything changed? And if it is still illegal, is it also illegal to have Dexedrine sent to Korea even WITH a prescription? Is it illegal to possess it in general? |

I doubt that you really are trying to solve your problem. It sounds nice when you have a label to identify with. I can point at you and say you are a spider and then sell you spider medication.
Medication in most cases causes more problems. have you tried tolook at what in your life causes you to be hyperactive mentally. Drugs are supposed to be a short term solution and not a long term one.
Make the proper diet and lifestyle changes. Read "the power of now" and realize that the thinking mind is supposed to be something that you can turn off.
Your mind has the problem and you are not your mind. Your mind is a small part of you and it shouldn't be in charge.
Drugs will calm your mind for a short while and then it comes back even stronger.
Meditation can teach you how to calm your mind long term.
If I had adhd like symptoms I would stay away from all stimulants and I would to heavy exercise and meditate when my body was exausted from the exercise.
I would also make sure I was avoiding coffee, smokes, and alcohol.
I would also spend lots of time in nature as it has a calming effect.
Your mind has become addicted to stimulation and you have lost the ability to connect with your calmer parts of your mind.
There is many solutions other than drugs. Good luck. |

Why give advice about a disorder that you don't seem to know much about and haven't experienced yourself?
"Attention-deficithyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common but controversial syndrome characterized by developmentally inappropriate hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention.1 The disorder, which continues throughout life,2,3,4,5,6,7 usually begins in childhood and is characterized by excessive activity, even when adjusted for developmental level, and limited behavioral control...
Psychostimulant drugs have been the drug treatment of choice for children with ADHD since a report was made, 60 years ago, of immediate and often dramatic improvement in the conduct and academic performance of children with behavioral disturbances when they were treated with racemic amphetamine.36 These findings have since been confirmed in many controlled, short-term studies (lasting a few weeks) of children, adolescents, and adults; an estimated 70 percent of the patients responded to the stimulant drugs (methylphenidate, dextroamphetamine, and pemoline), eliminating most controversy over at least the short-term efficacy and safety of these drugs.37....
Controlled studies have not proved the effectiveness of cognitive treatments (problem-solving strategies and self-monitoring), modeling, individual psychotherapy or play therapy, restrictive or supplemental diets, mineral or amino acid supplements, megavitamins, chelating agents, allergy treatments, biofeedback, vestibular and sensorimotor integration, or perceptual motor training."

Why is it that every time someone asks how to get some ADHD prescriptions in Korea, there is always someone jump the guns to make it into a debate whether the person needs it or not? Suddenly, everyone becomes an expert on ADHD. How is it that some random blokes on the internet knows more than several certified psychiatrists of 25+ years of experience. Honestly, if you don't have it you'd never know what it truly feels like to live with it (on/off medication). I feel like s*** with or without meds.
To answer the question to this post, it's not illegal, but it is a pain in the ass to get it. As far as I know, you do have to be reexamined. Most major hospitals in Korea that cater to foreigners and actually acknowledges ADHD has a policy of examining the patients themselves.
In my case, I gave up on getting the ADHD meds in Korea. Teaching English isn't exactly a desk job, where my mind wanders easily. I just called my doctor in the states and told him my mother will pick up the prescription and had her send it every month. I horded those for about a year. You medical history tends to be public in Korea. I rather not be labeled 'retarded' by faceless ignorant Koreans. |

Idiot
you have obviously never experienced ADHD. My brother had pretty extreme ADHD and until he was medicated was not a pleasant person to be around.
Yes it can be controlled without medication. He has been off medication for three years now, but he is also a builder and works a hard physical job at least 10 hours a day. Even now when he takes a few weeks off work those aspect of his behaviour come back.
Once again you're an idiot |

Few people have actual hdhd. The rest are given meds from a GP who was told by the drug companies the new trendie diagnosis is hdhd.
Just like a girl I know moved to the city from a coutry town and was lonely. Her new GP told her she was depressed and needed 1 year of anti-depressants.
The biggest crime in the world today is the passing out of mind altering drugs by G.P.'s to many people that have been mis-diagnosed.
I am not an idiot- I am just giving an opinion but my opinion comes from a large background of knowledge.
Nothing wrong from not believing in the Church of the white mafia. ( GP's and their drug making drug pushing buddies.)
If you believe in modern medicine without questioning it you are sleep walking through life.
Sorry to the few people and the family's of these few people that have real conditions that effect their minds.
Truth is most people do not have a severe enough condition to warrant drugs. It is also true that few drug treatments help and in many conditions they cause it to get worse.
If you think someone is an idiot for questioning modern legal drug pushing then you are asleep. |

Just looking at my advice you can see that exercise helps as in the case of this worker. Shows the problem is caused by his mind taking too much energy. Easy to fix this problem with meditation rather than medication. |

If you get angry when someone challenges modern medicine it shows you have taken on a belief system. When beliefs are challenged and you feel anger it shows you have identified with a belief.
Beliefs are not the truth. It is possible that they are true some of the time but not all of the time.
Religion and medicine are two things that people tend to believe in. It is funny to see how surprised people get when someone challenges one of their beliefs.
Modern medicine is a business to make money and many docs warp this truth for cash. Harsh world huh? |

I don't know about any other posters, but I tend to get angry when someone patronises someone whilst
a) not giving any credentials
b) making a bunch of statements not backed up by any evidence/links.
So, are you a qualified to diagnose mental illness?

This just seems flawed. Effectiveness of exercise=evidence that the mind is taking too much energy=meditation is the answer.
What does 'mind taking too much energy' mean?

Not angry, just shaking my head. Yes ADHD can be controlled through physical activity, but medication has a time and place. The guy was asking for advice where to get the medicine not alternative treatments, which I am sure he is aware of.
I agree, a lot of people who doctors say have ADHD probably don't, but some do, and for those people medication does help.
Modern medicine is one of the reasons we have the lowest child mortality and greatest life spans in the history of mankind. If medication works, use it |

D.D. admits ADHD as a actual disorder, but doesn't think the OP should take medicine for such disorder that a doctor diagnosed. On what grounds? Hilarious.
What would be worse is if D.D. completely denied ADHD as a disorder. Then he would be talking gibberish. |

On the ground that most G.P's are not qualified to diagnose mental conditions. This doesn't stop them doing it at a record rate. If you have a hammer everything looks like a nail. If you have drugs everything looks like a chemical imbalance.
Drugs are the income of the industry. Really funny how people think G.p.s are working from a place of fact rather than a place of pseudo drug selling science. |

I'm sorry, DD, but where does the OP say he was diagnosed by a GP?
Take a look at this for possible reasons that few people here take your medical conspiracy theory seriously:
