B-day coming up. I'm totally clueless when it comes to birthday presents. Any ideas folks?
NO sex toys. She's a freak, but I don't think she's that freaky. |

Take her shopping in Hongdae. Lots of reasonably priced clothing boutiques; you can get blouses and skirts for ~30K-40K and summer dresses for ~50K. Hint: The farther away you get from the subway station, the cheaper the prices... |

Good question, and one I'll be going through in a month. Questions to help tailor it to you though, not trying to be nosy, but these are basic things to know when suggesting a gift:
Age:
Nationality (korean/western will do)
How long have you been together (1 month vs. 1 year makes a BIG difference)
How serious (say the L word yet?)
Girl's favorite hobbie:
Girl's preference in music: |

23, Korean, less than a month, pretty damn serious haha, probably playing video games or watching anime, she definately likes the ballads. I was thinking of buying the Sims 3, but thats like a month from now. |

Less than a month means you want to avoid jewelry or other high priced goods, unless you like it to look like you're buying her affection. Although she is young and loves video games and anime, those are friend gifts- not boyfriend gifts. You want to go with something she can wear and be reminded of you. I'd go with a Bathing Ape T-shirt or other brand that she may like. Be careful and go with the REAL product, not a knockoff- she WILL be able to tell the difference.
I like this thread and think I may hijack it a bit, as like I said I'm coming up on the same thing:
Age:32
Nationality (korean/western will do): Western
How long have you been together (1 month vs. 1 year makes a BIG difference): A year and 4 months
How serious (say the L word yet?) Very serious
Girl's favorite hobbie: Singing and sailing
Girl's preference in music: Classic Rock |

(I know this belongs in one of the many "Ridiculous T-Shirt Spottings" threads, but I'm too lazy to track one down.)
At the Dongdaemoon street market recently, I saw a huge rack of T-shirts clearly intended for girls & women with the following printed on them:
Step 1: Cut a hole in a box.
Step 2: Put your junk in that box.
Step 3: Make her open the box.
And the steps were illustrated. You know, with "how-to" diagrams and arrows and such. |

JongnoGuru - Are you saying that the shirts with the directions, had the directions which referenced the box being the "BOX" or would the K-women wearing the shirts have no idea what the reference would be in English slaaaaaang. |
