|
|
I had uTorrent on my computer this morning but because of a bogus anti-spyware program all my programs on my C drive were uninstalled.
I use mininova for searching for torrents and (stupidly) just decided to download Vuze. Thought that it would be better to go back to uTorrent so I uninstalled Vuze, went to the uTorrent homepage, downloaded uTorrent stable 1.8.2, did the speed test, saved the settings so it is now sitting in the bottom task bar.
Went to mininova to download a torrent to make sure everything was ok but what happens next:
File download box comes up with 'name of torrent' type: Vuze download and from: mininova.org.. I hit the open button and this comes up
C:\Documents and Settings\(my name)\Local Settings\Temporary Internet files\content.IE5\4HUB4H2N\(torrent name) mininova.torrent
Application not found!
So I have installed uTorrent (supposedly) but torrents I want to download are having nothing to do with it and everything is being referred to Vuze (even though I have uninstalled it!)
Sorry for the length of the post but I was wondering if anyone had a fix for this problem I have encountered
Many thanks |

Sounds like you could also use ccleaner, to clean out your old registry items |

Another concern with uTorrent is the ratio statistic. How come my ratio is slowly going down even though I always seed more than I download? I used to be close to 10 but now I am at 8.408... I am always a courteous downloader and never a leech. What gives? |

A ratio is just that.. a ratio..
To continue to have a ratio of over 10.. you must have a ratio of 10:1 on your downloads.. If you start only getting a ratio of 5:1 your ratio will slowly go down. |

Oh, ok, I got it. Thanks... I thought so long as I had a per torrent ratio greater that 1:1 then my overall ratio would go up. Kind of stupid of me. Thanks for clarifying. What's considered a decent ratio? |

umm I think decent is a ratio of 2 or 3. You are definitely fine.
The bigger the buffer the better in my opinion though.
Ratio: 11.106 Uploaded: 1.101 TB Downloaded: 101.50 GB
This is my new site.. after 17 weeks.. not bad. |

Sometimes when you install utorrent it does not get set as the default torrent program. Go into untorrent settings thus Options-Preferences-General Setting - check for Associate with .torrent. |
