Well, the "box" really is a box. The only slang in the directions is "junk". The shirts had something like this printed on them. The diagram itself appears innocent enough. I don't imagine there are many Koreans (and certainly not the 65-yr-old ajumma running the stall) who would know the other meaning of "junk" or find anything risque about those shirts, which, as I say, were clearly meant for women and girls -- small slizes, bright flowery colours.
Okay, so these shirts aren't only in Korea. See?
Still, where else would you find them marketed to mothers & daughters? |

I see - The "put that junk in the box" phrase has got me cracking up a bit. The clincher - "Make her open the box".
Hey wait, shouldn't "make her open the box" come first? |

Um, with all due respect Mr. Guru, you've been in Korea long enough to have babysat for King Sejong, and that bolded bit still seems logical to you? Small sizes and bright flowery colors sounds like a terribly apt description of Korean men's fashions to me. |

You've been with her less than a month? Don't sweat it.
At such an early stage, keep the gift low-key, "cute" and inexpensive. Like maybe a bracelet (not expensive) and some chocolates. BUT...the message on the card is important. Make sure you write something touching, like "I think of you when I make coffee (if you drink coffee together usually) or "You made me get new cologne" or "You make me love Korea" or something cheesy like that. You don't have to be a poet, just show honesty and heart. Keep it short. She'll eat it up.
But don't go overboard. Over-eager = desperate = unattractive |

NO sex toys. She's a freak, but I don't think she's that freaky. |
