Well, I really like Firefox overall. I use it as my primary browser. I recently gave Chrome a shot, but it still doesn't display some of the pages I visit frequently too well. I will have to tinker with it a little more. Of course, I use IE for all things Korean.

My issue is with bookmarks. I used to be able to bookmark easily and effectively with a simple CTRL+D. My bookmarks popup would come and I could click it. If it was something I wanted to return to soon, I could drag the URL to my bookmarks toolbar.

Now, I don't have either of these options. It is a real pain because I am in the process of looking for a new job which requires lots of time looking at ads and websites. I need to be able to bookmark again!

Pushing CTRL+D does nothing. Clicking Bookmarks --> Bookmark This Page also does nothing. Dragging the URL to the toolbar does nothing.

I googled this information, but I got a bunch of information about navigation buttons not working after the update. My navigation buttons are fine. All of my old bookmarks are there. From time to time, the function will magically work for one bookmark.

I am looking for a suitable long term solution. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I don't want to reinstall if I don't have to!

Thanks for the help. I am somewhat technologically challenged.

1. Backup your current bookmarks. Do this by going to:

Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks - Import and Backup - Export HTML.

Pick and name and save it to the desktop. This is just in case.

2. Close Firefox.

3. Navigate to your Firefox profile folder. You can find this by doing:

Start - Run - "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\"

The open up Firefox - Profiles - xxxx.default

Find the localstore.rdf file and delete it.

Restart Firefox.

This should reset all the toolbar key bindings. Good luck.

Just curious - have you recently added an new Firefox add-on that might be conflicting?

Brilliant! Thanks so much for the help. Those instructions worked like a charm. I am happily bookmarking away now!

As for your question about ad-ons, I haven't added any new ones in quite some time. However, I suspect than an update to one of them might have been the source of the problem now that I think about it. I don't bookmark often (unless I am doing something like searching for a job), so I am not sure exactly when this situation occurred!

Nonetheless, it is up and working now. Thanks again!

The problem has manifested itself again today. Why would this continue to happen? I have not installed any updates. I have done absolutely nothing with my browser settings.

This seems to be a common complaint with FF. You can try to download the Beta 4 version of 3.5:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

supposedly there has been a fixed applied.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464486

Note - you might have to re-do the fix in the previous post after updating FF.

Ok, thanks for the information. I am downloading the Beta. I will give it a shot and see how it works. I will report back!

That was a rather unsuccessful attempt. I installed the beta version. The bookmarking feature wasn't working, so I followed the steps above. When I reopened firefox, it updated itself and reverted to the old version. I will completely uninstall this time. I'm heading to Busan for a damn burrito! I will do it this evening. =/

Something may be corrupted in your profile folder. Try this:

1. Backup your current bookmarks. Do this by going to:

Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks - Import and Backup - Export HTML.

Pick a name and save it to the desktop. This is just in case.

2. Close Firefox.

3. Uninstall any versions of Firefox that are on your computer.

4. Navigate to your Firefox folder. You can find this by doing:

Start - Run - "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\"

Delete the Firefox folder (and Extension folder if its there.)

NOTE-this will delete any special settings you have or any customizations.

5. Reboot the computer.

6. Install FF 3.5 Beta 4 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

This should work like the previous attempt did. We will have to see if FF breaks again.
