I bought a pair of sandals yesterday for the warm weather, and they're killing me! On the tops of both of my feet the sandals broke the skin in two places. They do fit and if the tops of the sandals were looser my feet would slide out.

I haven't owned a pair of sandals in a long time, so I don't know: will my feet adjust or am I somehow not cut out for sandals?

Your feet will adjust. Or more exactly, if you got a good leather pair they will break in. It may sound geekish, but socks help a great deal. I have sandals that almost look like shoes if I wear black socks with them. About 75% coverage. Great for summer in classes.

The other thing to consider is band aids and lots of them.

That's for you to decide. Me, forget it. I don't even wear slippers in my school anymore. I just can't stand it, there is just no support. I stole a couple of pairs of those cloth booties that visitors have to wear when entering my school. I wear my shoes every day now.

Not to bitch about my surroundings, but for a country that is so centered on appearance, how absurd does wearing a nice suite with slippers or sandles look? Oh and by a nice suite, I mean any suite other than the NASA certified thermal conducting space suites present in K-land.

Wear socks and sneakers to the beach. Save yourself the hassle.

Love and Peace.........

Sounds like standard cheap junk. Shoes have been a nightmare for me for quite some time as they're so cheaply made in China, but I haven't tried a $100+ pair yet. At home, nearly everything is made in China. Worth it to get an expensive pair of sandals and shoes? I paid 70,000 won for a pair of hiking shoes at Emart one month ago and one shoestring broke 2 days ago when I was tying them and they already look worn with soles looking to separate.

They're Rockports from the Itaewon location: 180,000 (on sale for 90,000). I paid so much because, in my experience, quality footware has always paid for itself in terms of comfort and longevity. Hopefully I adjust to these and they'll pay off too.

This is (about the only) beauty of Crocs. They may be ugly, but they're comfortable, washable, VERY lightwight, and don't cut your feet to shreds. Has anyone seen the originals in Korea?

Band aids and socks till the sores toughen up should get you by with this pair.

There are Crocs in Korea. There's a Crocs store in Itaewon across the street from McDonalds, another in I'Park Mall at Yongsan in the electronics side on the same floor as Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins, and yet another just across the street from Jungang subway station in Ansan. There are probably others around. I wore them once and I couldn't get them off my feet soon enough. I think they look ridiculous and there are plenty of other options that are more comfortable.

BTW I found one shop in Seoul that stocked a few Chacos. Its a climbing shop between Cheonggaechun and the large intersection near Insadong where there's a Giordano, YBM, and Park.

I don't know if it will work with Rockport sandles, but my Haviana flip flops were cutting my feet up (especially at the start of the warm weather), and I found the solution was to use some sunscreen or moisturiser to make my feet just a little slippery. This cuts down the rubbing, but doesn't seem to make them any harder to keep on your feet.

Obviously we're talking about a pair of rubber flip flops, rather than a (presumably?) leather pair of sandles, but it could be worth a try if you don't mind the underside of the leather discolouring.

Yes. Birks are well worth the investment, are incredibly comfortable, and last ages. Campers are also great. Spend a bit of money and your feel will thank you. With any show, you just have to break them in.

Sorry, but crocs make me think of little kids at the beach...please avoid those unless you are going to the beach, are gardening, or are in the privacy of your own home. I'm not the fashion police, and I don't want to be mean, but crocs are horribly wrong.

Any shoe will take time to break in, just go with it. Rub the parts that irritate your foot with a bit of dry soap.

I wear Doctor Martin sandals. I'm sure Racetraitor would be skanking proud. If you get the strap that goes around your ankle you get better support. The ones with only front support always fall off. I used to wear them until I slipped on the stairs and smashed a tape recorder. Never again.

Before I came here, I worked as a brand ambassador on a campaign for Crocs. This earned me a nice paycheck and two free pairs of shoes.

I chose two of the sandal styles, one is a flip-flop. I had to wear those shoes for some long days on my feet as a promoter and by the end of the gig, I was a solid convert...but I've never worn the (ugly) clogs.

Do you have the contact details for these people. Chacos are the greatest sandals ever produced. I am about to have them shipped over from the states because I am having a difficult time finding my size, a US 12, over here. G-Market doesn't go big enough for what is on offer. I would like to give these folks a call.
