I still have a few months left in my contract, but I am preparing now to better decide if I want to go home after the contract period, collecting severance, or continue working at the school and leave later.
A friend of mine will be allowed to go home at the end of his contract period, and they will pay for his flight. I am assuming this is on the condition that he works 6 months into his second contract. Any additional information on this would be appreciated because I would like to work no more than 6 months if I continued at my school.
I work at a public school now through GEPIK. Will a GEPIK public school do something like my friend's hagwon is doing, or is this only an arrangement with hagwons?
What can I expect the public school to do at the end of our contract period if we both want to continue working with each other? Will I have to continue immediately after or is there a period that is not viewed or used as "vacation" time before the new contract period starts? Again, can I expect the school to pay for a flight or is this not normal for public schools to do?
I figure it would still save them money. They would have to pay for my flight home and possibly a flight for another teacher unless they hired one in Korea who was changing locations.
Anyone out there with experiences in this? |
