For those people interested in getting a Korean credit card, I got one in about 5 minutes after meeting with a Samsung credit cards rep. She was willing to travel to where I live to take my application. I applied for the Asiana Airlines mileage card. Some of the benefits are discounts at duty free shops, discounts on airfare and travel packages, 10% off at Outback and VIPS, and 5 miles for every 1000 won spent at coffee joints (starbucks, coffee bean, etc.) 1 mile at all other joints.

Before this, I had been rejected by Hana Card, KB Card, and Hyundai Card. The rep. says she helped 30 NETs get a credit card last month.

if anyone is interested just PM me and I'll pass along her contact info.

It is a widely known fact that Samsung will give credit cards to
1. university professors.
2. public school teachers.

It is not true with hogwan teachers.

Uh? let me guess...

Just email - J.A Kim, [email protected] (A Korean young-lady who wants to help foreigners due to lack of services for foreigners in Korea).

However, as she works during the week - she prefers to only meet on weekends.

Because my apartment building is surrounded by the Hana, Woori, IBK and Nonghyup bank

but the KEB is a 10 minute bus ride away

besides the KEB GLOBAL (English speaking) branches are at Samseong, Gangnam and Itaewon - I rarely ever go there

why would you ever go to a branch in the first place? (other than to set it all up?)

it's a (not so new) concept - Internet Banking.

If nothing else works ask your senior CTs if any of them have former students who work in local banks and go in with them. No 20-something NongHyup girl is going to say no to her 50-something former teacher.

A beautiful solution for high school teachers but not so workable for elementary ones.
