|
|
| I'm in the market for a new phone, as my current one has finally given up after being dropped about a thousand times over the past year. Budget wise, I'm thinking no more than 200,000 - I use a prepay service with LG and my current phone is a Samsung (Anycall) so I don't really want a phone that has a different layout (such as Motorola). Obviously, it has to be a phone that can be bought in Korea either online or at a shop. With regards to buying online, is that actually cheaper? Any and all recommendations.. |

| Try G-market, auction.co.kr, or any other online shopping site for used cellphones. It'll save you a bundle and there's good stuff to be had there for a fraction of a price. |

| Bump. Any model recommendations? I've looked over sites, but can't figure out the payment system with all the 'renumeration' 1000 won phones. Since I'm using a prepay set, I just want to grab a model and pay the full price, then register the phone and switch my number to it. Would I be better doing THIS online or at the store? |

is it best to buy a cellphone for the year once you get to Korea or get a year plan that will cater to your needs while still in the states?
Any insight to how it all works would be appreciated |

| Don't get a phone in the states, it won't work here - and even if it does, the cost will be pathetically high. Back to the topic at hand. I need some help here folks. I'm trying to get a new model for use with LG. Since I don't have, won't get and can't have a contract phone I cannot purchase one of the many great offers available on gMarket, because the majority are for contracts. Of all the second hand phones I could find, most of them seemed like old models or ugly duckings left in a pile. I am thinking to get a slide phone with a full screen OR a touchphone, but my budget is 200k. Any one currently using a good phone that they'd like to recommend, please do so! If not, at least point out a good model that I can walk into a LG store and easily obtain. Language is not the problem, just knowing what are some of the good models to look out for is what I want to know. |

| I have the LG-SH150A, its a nice phone. All the bells and whistles, including multi-tasking. If I need the dictionary while I'm sending a text, I can hit a button to bring up an overlay menu and choose it. Or I can choose the subway map, memo, etc without actually closing the text message. |

Yup except mine is white. I've actually managed to figure out how to transfer everything off it (pictures/video) and transfer music on to it, as well as the mobile sync program which lets you back up text messages, etc if you need to. So if you get it, I think I can walk you through that. |

| Should be no problem, I always use Korean menus on gadgets. 99,000 seems a fair price for a secondhand? |

Its more than menus you need to get some drivers off the SK site, and if you do want to do music on it, you'll want to grab a microSD card. The internal memory on it is small. You'll need to use Melon player to transfer the music, it doesn't play MP3s, it plays DCFs, so melon player will auto convert your mp3s to dcfs. You can change most of the basic stuff to english, but any more advanced stuff is in Korean (like that overlay menu)
I think I paid around 200,000 a year ago, so 98,000 isn't too bad. |

I never use most of the features on phones anyway. Now I need to find one for use with LG.. As that one is SK. |

I didn't, but now I use more of it as I've managed to find the right applications to do some of those things on the Korean websites. My phone includes the T-Money option so I installed that and use that instead of a card at the subway/bus, I use the music sometimes, but I also play a few games on it as well. I still haven't gotten into the TV, or video calling, but there is a free radio channel that comes with it.
I'm pretty satisfied with the phone overall. |
