im trying to arrange a job in seoul from england, for july/august, private or public.
but so far most of the recruiters have been offering me jobs outside of seoul.. preferably i want to be in or near to south seoul eg, mokdong as i have korean friends around this area.
am i using the wrong recruiters maybe?
does anyone know recruiters that specialise in or have a lot of jobs in seoul?
thanks people

there are many jobs in Seoul.....the recruiter you are using is trying to fog you off with the jobs no one else wants like out in the boonies. Insist you will only consider Seoul and make it clear to them......which recruiter are you using?

if you're going for public I would use ESL-Planet, Korvia or Korea Connections.

As is said by others, there are lots of jobs - and lots of jobs in places people don't want to live (or don't think they would like to live), and plenty of recruiters/placement people who live trying to get people into those jobs & those places. Go figure!

On the private end, a number of people have told me they have been happy with the placement through Work'n'Play on the private end of jobs. If you know the specific areas of where your friends are, try to pick a little radius withing subway striking range of there, and make that one of your top requests/priorities.

There is a lot of, LOT OF, bait & switch in Korea. Stick firm, and good luck!

Honestly, you may be having trouble finding work in Seoul because you are from England.

Right or wrong, the fact is that Korean hogwan owners generally prefer to hire people with North American accents.

I'm not saying that hogwan owners in Seoul would never hire someone from England, because I know they certainly do. There just aren't as many of them and either they're really open-minded employers or they had no other choice.

Everyone wants to go to Seoul, so the hogwan owners there have a bigger pool of Canadians and Americans to choose from. Hogwans outside of Seoul have to take what they can get, because less people are willing to go there. So they have to be more willing to hire from other countries.

I now live outside of Seoul and it's striking how many people are here who are not from Canada or the U.S. When I was in Seoul, just about everyone I knew was either Canadian or American.

It's not really the hogwan owners who prefer North American accents either. It's the mothers. The hogwan owners know that they will be able to attract more students if they have a Canadian or American working for them than if they have someone with a different accent. They don't want to lose money.

Anyways, good luck. Be patient and I'm sure you'll eventually find something in Seoul.
