I was a little spoiled, having shopped in Japan. I absolutely can't stand the shopping in Korea. I don't want to be a snobby bastard, but Lotte sucks, Hyundai is decent but not quite right for me, and Shinsegae is overpriced. Dongdaemun's quality is lackluster.
Anyone know any small, stylish, trendy shops for men's clothes?
I long to find a necktie without sparkling plastic rhinestones sporadically BeDazzled about.
Something like Urban Outfitters in the USA would be nice...or General Pants Co. for those from Australia...
Anything? |

you can just go to itaewon and rediscover the nigerian hip hop psuedo gangster hidden inside you.
there are some stores as gay as the gap if you're into that.
seriously, i can't help you. shopping here blows. tokyo is nice... for everything... |

There's a huge outlet that sells only the trendiest brands for men in Dong Incheon Station. It's right outside Exit 6. Their prices are very cheap also. |

| Apgujeong dong is good but very pricey for men's clothing. There is a good Zara in the Lotte Mall in Bundang. Lotte Young Plaza and surrounding area in Myeongdong is also not bad.....however expect to pay a lot for nice clothes here. |

thanks for the tips guys. actually i work in Myeong-Dong, so I frequent Zara and Lotte...
again, not trying to be snobby, but Zara blows hard chunks. i don't mind the style, but the quality is cheap and the price is way too high for what it is. although sometimes frustration got the best of me and i've bought an article or two there just because i wanted to get something.
I'll check out that Dong Incheon recommendation sometime...bloody far but thanks for that. |

There�s no quick solution unfortunately�
I would tend to shop in Galleria� they had the best selection of European brands� but prices were a bit of a turn-off�
Saw a few funky things in Dongdaemun� but they lacked the quality� seams on the T-Shirts etc would fall apart in no-time... |

I need more ties. I hate buying ties here. I'm not a fashionista or even classy. All I want in a tie is that it DOESN'T sparkle and doesn't look like 4am soju street pizza.
You'd think a big shop like E-Mart or Lotte Mart would have some cheap plain ties in their own brand clothing section or one of the other cheaper outlets located in their stores. Nope. They're all covered in glitter and sparkle. Even if you look in the more expensive 'boutiques' in these stores where the ties are 40-80k they're still covered in sparkly stuff.
The last 3 ties I bought were 3 for 10,000 won on the street in Jongro. Bling-free. Mid-range prices ties seem to be out of the question unless you like glitter. I'm sure you can find some imported European ties for 100,000won+ somewhere or other but I don't want to spend that much so haven't looked.
'Fashion' question: Does ANYONE like the style of suit jacket which has just one button? I think the style was created in Korea in the early years of this century and I can't say I've noticed it outside of Korea. I read an article about this style once and I believe it was invented by a somewhat famous Korean designer. I think it looks awful. Only one button fastened on a 3 button suit can be a good look, but a suit with just one button? Doesn't work for me. |

Sounds like the Tuxedo style...
I see a lot of 1 button tuxedos... invented by a Korean? Hmmm, I don't know...
Overall, not a big fan of the style really though for practicality reasons... you want a more secure / better fastening |

You'll get used to it, shop around dongdaemun a few times, check out clothing stores in apgujeong, keeping shopping.... |

I want pleated khaki Docker heavy cotton pants and Polo/Nautica button down shirts as well as some sort of high quality shoes, but can't find these sorts of things. Gmarket lists a few things, but the sellers can't actually get it and end up refunding my money. Well, I'm due for a complete clothing upgrade, but parts here don't quite fit or look right on a Western build bot. 
Guess I can just wear cheap sheet and toss it. I didn't have a lot to bring over as I was just barely gettin' by. I noticed Koreans just buy cheap stuff, wear it for a week straight, get new cheap clothes, wear them the next week, and well, it's gloss and toss instead of high quality that you use, wash, and look really good in. |

Dress slacks haven't been a problem for me as far as grey or black, for khaki I looked everywhere until I just ordered some online back home and had my folks ship them out to me (I wear 36 length so hard to find in Korea).
Can't stand the dress shirts in korea, they are see through or overpriced for non-see through. I only buy custom fitted dress shirts now from England shirts in Itaewon, they cost 40k won a pop, but fit perfectly and the collar is nice and stiff so when I wear them with a suit the collar is always up, it doesn't fall into the suit lapel if you know what I mean.
Shinsegae is good for nice shoes I found, and one of the only places in Myeongdong that I could find that had 280+ sizes.
I'm too big for the trendy tight 1 size T-shirts in Korea, so I order those back home too.
There's some nice jeans to be found in Itaewon, you just have to sort through the gang-banger sizes.
I have yet to have any clothes "fall apart" on me that I've bought in Korea, and I'm going on 2 years now, so I dunno if I've just been lucky or if people are blowing some things a little out of porportion. |

really?? I've lived in dongincheon for 8months and never seen anything of the like, well it seems I have some exploring to do later  |
