This seems crazy but I just cannot create contacts in gmail unless by doing it individually!!!
I've got a bunch of emails in my inbox (they've been read, sent by students) and I want to bulk transfer them to contacts!
It seems I can't do it unless I reply individually to all of them - then they'll go automatically to contacts!! So stupid!
There's no "contacts" option either in "move to" or "more actions" so I can't select them all and move them.
I want to create contact groups for each class so i can email them with information but to do that, first i need to get them into contacts but i just can't find a way to do that!
surely you can select a bunch of emails people have sent you and convert them in bulk to contacts????
Maybe when i first received each mail i had an option to add each to contacts but looks like ii lost that chance and its too late!!
I'd really appreciate your help... |

Try going into the contacts page and check if there is a button on the lower right section called 'view suggestions'.
This should give you a list of frequent mail which doesn't belong to your contacts.
Just check the box of those you wish to add.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the help. There is indeed such a box but the mails I received from students are not "frequent" .
Irritatingly, I can't even check the boxes of all of them or several and do a "reply all" message.
Gmail really is crap! |

The easiest way would be to do it through an email client such as outlook or thunderbird |

It can get tedious putting contatcs in.
Once they're in, it keeps tabs of conversations pretty good and has docs a click away.
Surely it will improve soon by changing the way contacts can be stored. |
