I've applied for a job in Korea and I'm having problems.
My recruiter is 100% sure that the envelopes of my transcripts need to have some kind of stamp over the sealed flap. I've heard from other teachers whose transcripts have been rejected by immigration without that.
So, I called my university and asked them if they could do something like that and re-send my transcripts. And they said no. They said that the transcripts are official because of the paper they're printed on and that no stamp or seal is needed. They said they wouldn't make an exception for my situation.
So my question is, are there any other Columbia grads on Dave's? How did you get around this problem? Has anyone else had similar issues?
I've sent my documents to Korea anyway with a "Confidential" stamp and I'm waiting to hear the result. |

My employer told me that they once had a Stanford grad's E-2 app get denied because the transcripts didn't have a stamp. I bet that the more prestigious universities fall under more scrutiny, since they're more likely to be forged. However, this varies from immigration agent to immigration agent, so you might just try your luck, and be firm with the recruiter. If they won't budge, find a new recruiter.
Good luck! |

if they refuse to stamp it, maybe you could get someone important to sign their name over the flap?
like a dean of something something.
or a registrar person. |

That recruiter is mistaken and being overly paranoid.
I've applied for, and received, 2 E-2's under the new regulations from last year. Both times transcripts from my university have nothing on them other than a big printed sentence that says: "OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS: VOID IF OPENED" written right across the back of the envelope. There was no 'seal' or 'tape' or anything for that matter, nor on my girlfriends transcripts.
That Stanford university transcript debacle seems fishy. I actually included my Stanford transcripts as well as my graduating universities transcripts in case Korean immigration wondered why there were so many "Transfer credits" listed on a set of official transcripts. They never had a problem. |

I encountered the same problem with the University of Windsor, I finally got the right person on the phone at the Registrar's office and they agreed to sign the flap on the envelope. Didn't have any problems with the Consulate accepting it. |

My university does the seal on the envelope thing. Up till now, I thought it was standard for all universities to do that with transcripts because it confirms that the envelope hasn't been tampered with. It's too bad Korean immigration can't employ a NET or a Kyopo to call universities and verify degrees/transcripts. |

And this explains how jkelly "foodcourt worker extraordinaire" can come to Korea to become a "teacher." |

Mine just had a piece of cello tape over the back, not exactly professional and caused no problems. So if you're worried, just add a bit of tape. |
