Are you in Seoul with young children? If not, dont bother reading; youll waste your time and just get bored to death. On the other hand, if you do have young children, then please keep reading. It may turn out to be a good thing for both of us.

We have two children: a son who had his second birthday two weeks ago and a daughter who will have her fourth one at the end of August. I was wondering where I could find them little foreign friends.

Are you in this situation (trying to find foreign friends for your children)? If so, and if our kids are about the same age, we could try to find a suitable time and place to meet to see if our kids could get along... and the parents, too! Wink ; I dont care about the nationality as long as the children speak English or French, not only Korean.

We live in Gangdong-Gu (eastern part of Seoul), nearby Cheonho and Gangdong subway stations. If you don't really know where that is, then let's say it's not too far from Olympic Park. Cheonho subway station is at the intersection of lines #5 and #8.

I am French-Canadian and my wife is Korean. I speak English and French and my wife speaks Korean and English. At home, my wife usually talks to our daughter in Korean or in English, and I usually talk to her in French. That way, I hope my children can eventually learn the three languages.

About 2 years ago, we went to Canada for a few months. Prior to our trip, our daughter could speak Korean fluently just like Korean kids her age. She seemed to understand a lot of English and French, but she was still unable to express herself comfortably in either language.

While in Canada, we spent about 3 months in Kingston, Ontario. All it took was that short 3 months and she could speak English just as much as any other Canadian kid her age. Afterwards, we spent almost 2 months in Quebec and again that's all it took for her to feel comfortable speaking French.

When we came back to Korea we lived the opposite situation: she seemed to understand Korean, but she couldn't/wouldn't say anything in Korean. It didn't take her too long, though, to "get back to normal", and now her Korean is fine.

However, she's forgetting what she's learned of English and French, especially English since I mostly talk to her in French.

My wife and I both work (too much!) and are often very busy, so usually it would be much easier for us to meet anyone on weekends or when theres a national holiday. Weekdays are also possible, though, but its not always easy.

I'd like my kids to be able to meet other foreign kids, but I am not looking for a nanny or babysitter. I don't need anyone to take care of them as I would be there too. We could meet at the Olympic Park, the Han Riverside Park, Lotte World, at playgrounds or mountains basically anywhere where kids could play together and have fun. All Im looking for is foreign friends for my kids.

So, if you are in Seoul or nearby Seoul, like Hanam, Guri or anywhere else not too far away, and you have young children and want them to play with other foreign kids their age, then send me a message!

Ah, my little girl is the same age as your youngest... but that's a bit too far for us.

We're lazy parents and don't travel that far that often. lol

I'll have to check out those links though.

sojukettle, thank you for the links. I'll check them out for sure.

Captain Corea, I wouldn't call you lazy at all. I'm not too much interested in going too far either. The best thing would be for us to find a family in the same area, but the only time I saw one they told me they were actually visiting relatives here. Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
