Planning to be in China in October. I realize a Chinese visa isn't cheap these days so was wondering if anyone knew:
If you're in, lets say Shanghai, and want to go to HK for a week or so, then to, lets say, Guilin, do you have to get another visa while in HK to go to Guilin? Maybe multiple entry visa is the best, but is it more money?
Also, is it true you MUST have a travel agent get the Chinese visa for you if you're in Korea? I don't see why that would be, as a travel agent isn't really doing anything you can't do on your own and then you have to pay extra for the agents services.
Thanks in advance! |

yeah you will need a multiple entry, shouldn't be too much more expensive than a single, but it depends on nationality. I know a single entry if you are from the UK is between 30-50K depending what travel agent you use (with Xanadau it was 50).
You do need to use a travel agent, you can't apply yourself. most travel agents will do it for you, or if you go to the Chinese consulate (near Myeong-dong station, up the hill towards the cable car) there are lots of women hanging around who i guess can get it for you. I played safe and went to Xanadu.
If you are planning on going from Shanghai-HK, i recommend the overnight train. It was a really interesting way to travel. |
