You must have been drunk when you watched it. That movie is pure and utter crap: cardboard acting and cheesy special effects. |

| What's the deal with Koreans and this movie? It was good but it wasn't great. I saw it back in America and was practically the only person in the theater. I guess there's that little part, but that's a little petty to obsess over. |

it was directed by a pretty famous korean director and its based on old korean folk tales. plus they play "arirang" at the end which is the most famous korean folk song.
i know a lot of koreans that have seen it and even bought the dvd, but in private, at least to a foreigner, will admit that it was a pretty awful movie. its one of those things where in public and with other koreans they have to profess to love because of all the korean elements. kind of like non-nazis still saluted hail hitler at parades and such, even though they were wishing for his death.
IMO, it has to be one of the all time worst directed, acted, and CG films ever. i mean yeah, the dragons looked cool... but that was about it. like they blew the whole budget on the dragons and put together everything else with change they found under the couch. better WRITING and acting could have saved it, even with the cheesy graphics (its happened b4) but this film just left a really bad taste in my mouth. and was a really bad example of korean influenced film to be presented to the rest of the world. god i hope they dont mess up Old Boy, that could revive koreas reputation in hollywood. |

I don't think you really understand Korean culture. You are looking at things throught your rose colored Ethnocentric sunglasses. Would you go to a Korean Restaurant and spit in the Kimchi? Would you mock Geddy Lee for wearing a Maple Leaf on his backpack.
This movie is a good opportunity to experience the greatness of Korean culture. It's too bad you allowed yourself to be blinded by something like good taste rather than marvel at the mastery of this great film. |

Actually most Koreans I know and am friends with openly mock the movie and the director.
hah! i can't believe i saw it in the theater when it came out, and by no means was i the only one laughing in the theater. |

and if u r a waegookin and u think this film represents korean culture, u must be fresh off the boat. that has little to nothing to do about korean culture.
there r certainly a number of korean films that better represent the culture and r rather enjoyable to watch. im actually quite the fan of korean films, but this load of garbage blows hard. and anyone over 15 that thinks this is a "masterpiece" is a simple minded foreigner or an overally nationalistic hangookin.
see "taegookie", or "dongmakol", or any of the 3 park chan wook revenge films for truly great k-films that r worthy of praise. |

I think since you are not Korean you can't understand. But seeing it with Korean children and watching their faces light up. They enjoy watching D-WAR far more than running around wildly at a restaurant and annoying the Foreign guests. |

| Hmm, I was talking about this movie and it's sh**tiness earlier this morning in another thread. I felt sorry for few decent actors that had to hard-s**t-to-pronounce Korean names 20+ times in a dialogue. |
