Yup. Today is test day at my school. While administering a test for the youngest group, one girl was having a problem understanding a question. I went one-on-one with her to explain the question without giving the answers. Well this assistant comes up "You shouldln't be doing that." I basically told him to never mind what he thinks I should or should not do.
Anyway, he told me that I could do the tests myself and walked out. Even called me crazy and said "You are not alone in this world."
Whatever. Maybe I'll be fired again. |

"You are not alone in this world." That's comforting, you should have told her. |

Well, you were rude to him. I am sorry that he reacted badly but if you told me off while I was trying to help you not do something that might be miscontrued, I probably would have popped you in the mouth or at the very least reported you to the principal.
You could have remained calm and not so arrogant. He is right you are not alone, you have someone there too work with and you should respect him if you ever want respect in return.
You might have just said, I am only explaining what the question asks and not discussing the answers. However, I think that he is right and a teacher should not help only one student. I would have waited until everyone had finished. And before collecting the tests clarified a few things that might have been misunderstood because of a poorly written test and then given them a little time to double check their answers. |

last time I checked, teachers were supposed to help students - and I've seen K teachers help them all the time during tests - in fact that's generally when they are most helpful
sounds like they were jealous that you actually had rapport with a student IMO and that the student was actually listening to you.
very childish and immature, not to mention unprofessional, of the other teacher - or assistant, whatever. |

Almost every time I see a post from you, I thank the Universe I don't work with you.

I've never heard of a teacher helping a student individually during a test. Ever. In any country. |

Come on people... ya gotta love Ying!... he's the only person I 'know' who takes pride in the number of times he's been fired.
Besides, the question of whether his actions/words were right or wrong hinges on - whether the assistant teacher is younger than him (or not). |

Anyone student that wants help from me gets it. In the form of a quick smack upside the head and a shouted 'Dont trust anyone over 30!' Then I bark at them like a dog until they cry. |

You've never heard of a teacher helping a student understand a question? Ever? In any country? Wow, you've obviously never heard of a teacher who actually cares then.
OP, your response probably wasn't the best, but he was out of line to do that in class, too. Shake it off, don't worry. |
