As far as I know, it's the exception, not the rule for 'after school' classes to have a co-teacher.

I've never worked in an elementary school, but I'd suggest you invest in a picture dictionary and start from there...

Yeah... an actual, physical co-teacher equals less profit.

I don't 'do' after school classes. Cruisemonkey turned down 40K/class and my school found a 'hogwan monkey' for that. Cool

I live in Busan and I have a Korean co-teacher at all times.

Quite easy money too, every 4 weeks I get 48, 10,000 Won bills in an envelope for directing a role play, playing a few games and being a human tape recorder between 12.50-3.30 once a week.

I'm confused. Do regular (I assume elementary) classes end at 12:50 in Busan? What are your regular hours?

8.40-4.40

The little ones finish at lunch (12.10) which means on Wednesday I have to gulp down my rice and be ready for battle at 12.50. After school in my case is just doing a proper days work, instead of the usual finish teaching at 12.10, then just lurk until 4.40. A full day....leaves me exhausted, I hate Wednesday Mad

No co-teacher in after school program and getting them to listen is about like asking a rock to move on it's own. They're so antsy and going stir crazy when 3:00PM comes. I got them playing kickball on nice weather days and watching shows on wet weather days.

Two classes, twice a week each. 35 students in each class. No co-teacher. Yes, you should pity me.

Actually, one class is lovely. The other is nearly ruining my life.

Why? please back up your negative statement with your real life experiences.

My co-teachers are fine. They are usually marking homework but will explain games and keep control with the beginner students.

My school doesn't make a profit on afterschool. Before people start throw disbelieving insults up, I know what the kids pay and I can do the math.

Instead of money, the co-teacher receives points for 'co-teaching' the after school class. He's working towards a VP position.

The longer I work at a PS the more I realize a lot of things are only done on paper. I think most FT's have a co-teacher on paper as well. I don't know for sure, but I've heard that a co-teacher is required in afterschool classes as well as the regular class.

I don't insist on one because a co-teacher in my case would only be in the way. But the max students I have are 20. More than 20 and I would be asking questions and making waves.

Gird your loins... and watch your six. Probing, little K-fingers 'want to know'. Laughing

14 of my 21 classes are "after school". I work in a tiny little public school. There is one teacher each for grades 1 - 6. Also there is a science teacher who also happens to be my English coteacher. The science teacher has 12 classes of his own (per week) and rarely makes it to my 14 afterschool classes.

They range from no English what-so-ever (grades 2-3) to don't give a squat (grades 5-6). Wednesdays are hell in my school as well as I have 2 periodsa of 3rd graders, then 6th graders, and then Top Class. 3rd graders barely have any English, 6th graders hate school in all forms, and Top Class is so bored most times that I barely know what to do with them.
