I was just listening to "Fever Ray" today, and I thought it was very good.

Any opinions on the new Mode CD?

I thought "Playing the Angel" was an incredible surprise, but this one is back to the dull stuff.

thought they were mediocre at best until their latest release. It's much more consistent than their previous efforts

With all the hype, I have to give it a third try.

ooooh that album around the summer of 2006 was really nice! Not sure if they have another by now; do they?

Camera Obscura release from around that time was great summer music! As well as the Danish band called Mew.

All good picks if you generally enjoy the style of bands signed to 4ad (see username above Very Happy )

So--

Asobi Seksu-- Thursday
Camera Obscura-- Let's Get out of this Country
Mew-- And the Glass Handed Kites

I also enjoyed the Beirut single "Elephant Gun" but haven't heard the whole album.

Beirut- already listed, so I'll just recommend listening to Scenic World and Elephant Gun as previosly listed. Both songs are gorgeous. The new album gas been a pain in the ass since its split on two records. 11 or 12 songs on a double LP = too much flipping.

Animal Collective- The new almbum wasn;t easy to get into but once you do its gold.

Hih\gh Places- If you like AC this should be up your alley. All the best stuff they have put out recently.\

Crystal Antlers-This is hands dpwm am eassy pick for albom of the year

"Feed the Animals"(?) by Girl Talk - not my usual cup of tea, but how can you not like twisted sister mixed with mr. mister, plus numerous other odd combinations. It does get a bit repetitive, but definetly fun for a while.

Just the past two years? I generally find most artists' earlier works to be better. /end cliche

But seriously, I'd go with Destroyer- Trouble in Dreams. It's not their best album, but it's frackin' fantastic nonetheless. Rubies is a better album to start on but older than two years.

Swan Lake - Enemy Mine is awesome as well and very new.

I read a very positive review of Animal Collective a couple years back in Bust. With all the hype here I think I shall check them out as well.

Yeah, Crystal Antlers is good stuff. At once squawky and melodic--nice!

Well, there are as many as six good (maybe great) songs on it, but otherwise, no, it's not particularly engaging and arguably their worst record for over 20 years.

Ahh music, that along with my hiking boots and my bike help keep some semblance of sanity.

Need new music? download good old Limewire, and check out Rolling Stones or NME, Spin or some kind of online music mag for ideas.

Radiohead In Rainbows
Vampire on the Weekend (Self Titled)
Mudhoney (name I forgot)
The Killers Day and Age
Sigur Ros Med Sud etc.,
Steve Malkmus (ex-Pavement) Real Emotional Trash
Built To Spill (new album soon)

I only like one song; I think this may be their worst album so far.

The latest Killers album is quite good.

Hercules and the Love Affair's eponymous CD is good.

Some good suggestions that I've been listening to are already on here, minus the Avett Brothers. You gotta check 'em out.

The Americana music scene is really starting to come alive. Love it.

I agree with the Avett Brothers, and I'd like to add The Gaslight Anthem.
