The only bit I didn't like was the whole mind meld situation. Way too much exposition in such a short time. Felt like a two part movie that was thrown together into one. Come to think of it, it'd be nice if they did the graphic novel as a movie.

It's only a two hour movie..what else could they have done..please tell me some of your suggestions.

Also I liked Kirk getting into a bar fight...my only disappointment is that we didn't get to see the 'kirk chop' that hands clasped together punch that he does...that really let me down...

The Enterprise coming out of warp and hiding in the moon of Saturn (Titan) just practically made the entire movie for me....they didn't need to develop all the characters..they could have just drove the Enterprise around and said, "hey let's hide in that moon..no let's hide in that Gas giant"..that would have been enough.. but coming out of warp and then rising out of the gasses as if it were fog..yeah ...

You got to see her take off her shirt.....also it was hard enough to believe that her and spock were making out....let alone doing the deed.

Spock, for example, is obviously a key part, and the actor they got to play him is really talented so I can only blame the director for the misinterpretation of the role.

Based on whose criteria? This movie takes place in on an alternate timeline. All bets are off as to who these characters were in other books and movies.

My beef with this movie continues... Uhura was one of the first portrayals of a strong, independent black woman on TV. Now she's Spock's eye candy bitch.

Great fun of a movie.

Strong characters that stick out most were Spock, Uhura and Capt. Pike.

Can't wait for the next one.

It's a combination of "jiggy" and "giggle".

She was far too uptight and stuck-up. She also needed a scene where she could show some skin.

No. If it calls itself a 'Star Trek' movie and it's supposed to be about the Star Trek characters, then there should damn well be some continuity or else they're in danger of exploiting the Star Trek name to get the audience in and then cheating said audience.

This is not like a re-telling of the King Arthur story where no one actually knows what King Arthur as a person was like (assuming he even existed), so there is considerable room for interpretation. This is a story about well-delineated, and well-loved, characters. If you're not prepared to respect that, then you can use the same continuity but with a different set more to your own liking, as has been done in Outpost Nine, not to mention TNG.

So you can disagree with me that they got the characters wrong - tell me my ideas of what makes Spock Spock are off base - but don't tell me the director can do whatever he or she wants with them. It's cheating.

What's being a two hour movie got to do with it? Besides, they could have made it 3 hours if they wanted. My suggestion is to stay true to the characters, no matter what the plot or situation. It's perfectly in character for Kirk to get in a fight, and it's even ok for him to lose a fight especially with the odds heavily stacked, but it's not ok for him to have no flair.
