The Mintpad is a very portable 4GB PMP that costs 200,000 Won and allows you to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.

Pros
____

Cheapish.
Fast (apparently, based on youtube video linked to below) internet connection.
Plays Flash videos (apparently, I read it somewhere.. Embarassed, don't quote me though ).
Easy to carry around.
Takes photos (1.3 megapixel camera).
Can be used as mp3 player (supports a good variety of formats).
Can be used to watch videos.
4GB of memory with Micro SD slot

Cons
_____

Using text looks like a bother? How to type comfortably?
Small screen size.
It's functionality is a subset of devices such as the Iphone, so if you own an Iphone then this won't offer any advantages (I'm assuming you can draw on the Iphone with the stylus).
Interface response times look a bit slow.

I very nearly bought one today, but the lack of English menu put me off. As for the unit itself it is small and sleek with lots of features. The internet was rendered surprisingly well but on such a small screen, it might become a bit bothersome after a while.

I've contacted the developers here in Korea and they told me they're working on an English-language model to be sold in the States. Actually, I'm expecting a response very soon as he told me development would be finish in May and that he would happily hold a couple of models bound for the American market for anyone interested in buying them in Seoul.

with everyone and their dog having a cell phone here doesn't the camera seem unnecessary?

I'm a bit concerned about the proprietary nature of Mintpad. When crossmr asked, 'why the camera?' I immediately thought of a demo I saw where a person took a photo with the Mintpad and it was seemlessly uploaded to his blog in a few seconds.

I thought this would be a handy feature (you can upload with phones, but you have to pay unless you have a Wi-Fi phone) however I'm not sure if the blog he used is a Mintpad blog.

I think you get free blogspace when you register the Mintpad online. It's a similar situation with their chatting feature, you can chat to other Mintpad users.

Is the blogging integration feature tied in to their Mintpad blog?

I'm not clear on this but I think its a moot point as the developers told me that the English blogging feature wouldn't be available for a few months after the English model is released. He said they would patch it in.

I still think it's neat for it's unit to unit communication and super-compact on-the-go blogging feature (when it is added in).

This is exactly why I'm concerned about the proprietary nature of the device. How many people have you met with Mintpads? Being able to upload to a Mindpad-only blog is limiting IMHO.

I didn't think that only other Mintpad's could see the blog or at least that's not how I read it. You need to consider that this product has only just hit the market and has yet to have opportunities to show itself for what it can be.

Imagine how much fun Twitter would be from a Mintpad device! Better yet, since the Mintpad is so cheap you could easily purchase a set for yourself, your significant other and close friends and family.

I think you need to see the Mintpad up close before thinking about blogging and general internet use. Whilst the screen resolution is very sharp, it is very small. I think I'm going to wait for the Iriver P35 Wifi. That looks like it will be much more practical.

What's the expected price for it? Does it render web pages quickly?

EDIT: The P35 Wifi will be around 358,000 Won !!! Shocked
That's significantly more expensive than the Mintpad, putting it in the IPhone range.
