I've been talking with a recruiter for Tenet Korea (http://www.tenetkorea.com/) about a position teaching elementary school kids in the Gyeonggi Province. I also applied for Korea Connections (http://www.koreaconnections.net/), and they might have some positions for me as well. I need to decide which one to continue pursuing.
I got a BA in English in December 2008, and I've never been anywhere outside the U.S. or Mexico. I have no experience teaching English, though I have a few weeks experience teaching mallet percussion to American high school students.
Any thoughts about Tenet Korea and Korea Connections? |

Go with the one which is NOT Korea Connections. I had a pretty bad experience with them. In a nutshell, Mr Lee from Korean Connections made a bunch of promises regarding my job etc and when it turned out they were false, he sold turned on me. (Admittedly, it was my first ESL gig and I was naive, and certainly wouldn't fall for the same tricks again...Mr Lee, however, still fails regarding ethics) |

My first recruiter was Tenet Korea, and I was in much the same boat then as you are now (having never left the country). They got me a job with SLP. Ugh...all in all it was a good first year, but that was b/c of the people I met and the new things I was able to do, not b/c of the job, which was crap. |
