Hi, I'm in Yong-in, Suji just south of Seoul and I was wondering if anyone knew where the closest immigration office is or how I can find out? I would like to leave Korea for at least part of my vacation and need to apply for a re-entry permit, but the websites the Consulate in Vancouver gave me don't work. www.g4f.go.kr and www.immigration.go.kr . Also, the Korean immigration website doesn't display the application for re-entry when I click on it.

If anyone can help, that would be great. It's probably a really easy process, but right now I'm stuck on where to apply.

You will have to pay 50K Won out of your own pocket.

http://www.immigration.go.kr/HP/IMM80/index.do

you can't apply for the e-application, you should re-fill a form you were given when you first came to Korea. on it, you are given the option of multiple-entry.

In fact, you may even be able to do this just at the airport. Try the immigration office at COEX in Gangnam. Since you are only leaving once, then you don't need to go through the costly process of paying for a visa update.

If you're flying out of Incheon, you can definitely do this at the airport. It takes about 10 or 15 minutes.

A year ago, a single re-entry visa was 30k won, & a multiple re-entry visa was 50k won. The multiple rv is worth buying, if you plan on any overseas trips during vacation time (eg, Japan, China, Thailand, Philippines etc).

One cannot get a multiple re-entry permit at an airport - only a single re-entry.

Are you sure about that? I was offered a multiple re-entry visa, at Incheon Airport, when I flew to Thailand in December, 2006. I declined though, & went with a single entry visa. But that was 2.5 years ago, & K Immigration may have changed the ground rules since then?

Ditto, about a year ago. Double check.

So, I have an E2 visa and I have already been to Japan and back and to the states and back and didn't have to do anything extra for those trips. If I go on a trip to Malaysia or Australia or China or a lot of places and I come back here do I need to get a different kind of visa too? They never said anything to me for those trips just stamped it and that was all and sent me on my way.

Well, I got my E2 visa in Canada and they told me with a piece of paper that if I want to leave the country I have to get a re entry visa. I've been talking to other teachers from the US and I don't think they need one.

Read what the visa says. If it's multi-entry, it'll say with an expiry date. When in doubt, go to immigration or the check-in counter.

Quick question, on my current E-2 visa i have taken one trip home (australia) using a single re-entry permit i got from the incheon airport immigration desk, i am planning to go on vacation and leave again for a few days only, can i get ANOTHER single re-entry permit from the same place in incheon airport or do i need to get a multiple entry visa as it is the second time i am leaving on the same work visa?

Cheers
