I went with my wife to apply for my F2 visa today, and was told by one ajossi that I couldn't because I'm on an exit order to leave the country, and can only do it on a valid visa. (This was confirmed by some other people)

However, when we spoke to another ajossi, he said he wouldn't even process our application because we had separate addresses. So today we went to secure our brand new officetel, and will go back on Friday to try again with our new shared address after I go to Japan and come back as a tourist.

Just make sure the Officetel allows you to use it as your permanent address. I know many offiectel owners use them as a way of avoiding taxes, so you can't use the address as your home address. My wife and I found that out the hard way and had to scramble to find a new place to live in order to renew my visa.

Shouldn't this be more like a warning of:

If you are looking at a cheap way to stick around and already have been told the leave the country, marrying a girl you barely know isn't going to get you out of that bind?

I have never had a problem getting or renewing my F2 visa. Perhaps it is because we have always lived at the same address and I was married at a time when F2 visas were a wet dream that hadn't come true yet.

bro, didn't you just get here? So, if I have the timing right, you arrived, quit/got fired from a job, got married, and are now applying for an F visa. All in what, 2-3 months?

Anyway, good luck.

Gee,

I wonder why the immi guys are having a problem with you

1. Youve been here only 2 months
2. During that time you managed to get an exit order
3. What do you do? You get married and right away apply for an F2.

Yeah, those bad immi guys.

I wouldnt give you an F2 either because its quite transparent what you are doing. The funny thing is, you got married but wont get an F2 for your troubles LOL

Thats what I dont get. How does he and his wife live at different addresses? The speed it took for this guy to get here, meet a girl, get married, apply for an F2 is astounding and a clear indication that this is a marriage for a visa.

yeah, im willing to give the guy a chance to tell his side of the story.

im rather curious as to why he got fired/quit so soon and married, like, over the weekend.

no one can say it wasnt long enough. we never know how love will affect us when we meet the right person. but lets give barber pole boy a chance to fill us in. i doubt his wife reads this forum and no one knows ur IP address, so y not be honest?

im coming up on my third year and am just starting to entertain the idea of marriage. im hoping to get out of the country for good before that thought matures though.

1. Someone finally popped his cherry so he marries her.
2. He got his girlfriend pregnant.
3. Both.

I'm betting on #3.

Nah, I just bet its a visa thing. If it wasnt he wouldnt be applying for it pretty much right after he left the wedding hall.
