(The links below go to YouTube clips of the films.)
I've watched In the Mood For Love, 2046, Days of Being Wild, and a few others. He's an amazing director.
I have to say that 2046 was my favorite film out of them all. |

yeah, I love Won Kar Wai films! They are usually very poetic and shot very nicely. Have you seen "My Blueberry Nights"? I thought "happy together" was a good one too, although I'm not gay. I've seen every film of his I think. There are many good Chinese and Korean movies out there. For some reason (aside from animation) I am having trouble finding good Japanese films though. Aside from the old "Kawasawa" films. |

Check out Chungking Express!!
And for the true supplementary experience to watching the movie, stay at the actual Chungking Mansions in HK. I sure did! [/url] |

I couldn't get into it. I put it away after a half hour. I know he's a great director and all that, but I was just so bored. |

For a great Japanese director, check out Takeshi Kitano AKA "Beat" Takeshi. Some moves of his are Sonetine, Fireworks (Hana-bi), Kids Return, Brother, Kikojiro and Dolls. He usually stars in his own movies which works because he is a good actor. You may recognize him as one of the Japanese hosts of MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge) on TV in the states, but don't let that dissuade you, he is like Bill Murray or Tom Hanks, a Comedian that is great at dramatic roles as well.
Wong Kar Wai is great too. In fact, ChungKing Express and Days of Being Wild are two of my favorite movies, although In the Mood for Love is definitely his best. |

Little known fact: Takeshi Kitano is actually ethnically Korean! Most Japanese people don't even know that... although the more you look at him, you can't help but think, "Why didn't I notice it before?"
Yeah! Chungking Express! Have you been to Hong Kong? I'd recommend staying at the Mansions. Interesting times to be had for approximately $5 a night. |

While I agree that Kitano is a versatile actor (drama skills included), I'd say he's most well known for his dry/dead-pan humor.
Have you seen his take on Zatoichi? |
