I would like to quit my job at a hagwon for a number of reasons, mainly the withholding of my diploma and threats via my recruiter to fire me. my contract requires 60 days notice in the case of "unreasonable termination"by the teacher - question is, if i give this notice, how likely are they to do stuff like mess with my pay and generally make my life hell for those final two months. No defintion as to what constitutes an unreasonable termination or a reasonable one, etc. Am I likely to be able to negotiate an earlier termination date, or should I not even go there? I guess I could always try doing such a terrible job that they fire me...
Also, I don't think I want to continue teaching in Korea, so I guess taking the midnight express is always an option - frankly, I don't feel that a school that withholds diplomas deserves 60 days notice. However, I would like to come back on a tourist visa at some stage - would simply leaving effect my ability to do this? I would've thought that it could only raise problems if I wanted another E2, but I would like to make sure? If I go down this route, is it better to cancel my own visa by going to immi and getting an exit order or just handing in my ARC at the airport? |

| First of all, get your diploma back. Just go and be nice and keep reapeating "I want my diploma" until he finally gives in. Then leave Korea. |

Seems you already are.
You could always find the root of the problem and try to fix it, pleasantly see your contract through and then check you options. However, that isn't as easy (or appealing, probably) as a cut&run or just bailing. |
