Are these numbers certain? Based on the EPIK site, they're not accepting applications for most metropolitan locations because they're no longer available or about to be? Not sure though. |

The numbers are meaningless. The bureaucracy plays a game based on perception - it's in their self-interest.
In K-land it's all about perception... not results. Somebody wearing a shinny suit and a pink tie is having an orgasm because he can get recruiters to create an artificial demand.
Ks are many things. One thing they're not... is stupid. |

I took that to mean they have enough applications to fill the spots, not that the spots are already filled, if that makes sense. |

Those are what are remaining, which changes too often. How about we look at the TOTAL number of openings first?
Then you can see where the majority of schools are located. Wouldn't that be useful information in case you want to/have to transfer? |

The Gangwondo EPIK teachers only are just now turning in their requests to stay, move or leave for the next contract year...those requests won't even get to the Provincial Office of Education until sometime next week...they have no idea yet how many of us already placed will be leaving/moving/etc - could this be true in other regions? |

Incheon EPIK has only just started the procedure as far as I am aware. So they wont know for sure until the end of June really to figure out who is staying/moving/leaving. I only hope we get first priority of location preference than newbies comming in. |

I'm with Gyeongsangnam Province EPIK and wanting to move to Jeju next contract. My contract doesn't end till Sept 30th (delays with visa meant I didn't arrive till last Oct) so will I be eternally too late for the best jobs? Anyone know how I move on from here?
I have to agree that that as EPIK teachers have not yet been asked whether they will stay, leave or move to another school it must be impossible to predict with any real accuracy about specific openings. |
