Can any give any advice on buying a car in Korea?
I am thinking about getting a small run-about (matiz or something similar)
1) Where can I find second hand cars for sale?
2) How is Tax/insurance/ government inspection organised?

Any advice welcome.
Cheers

Check out

http://auto.icross.co.kr/

if you can read/navigate Hangul. A lot of listings, especially from individuals (not dealers) When you deal with the paperwork at the car registration office, there are lots of adjumma/adjossi insurance reps that will insure you on the spot at the DMV, or you can shop around before registering by calling whatever agency/agent you want. (Insurance is legally necessary to register the car in your name).

Auto inspections are really easy-- every 1 or 2 years, depending on the year of the car at government inspection stations, usually one in every Gu district, or one for the entire place in smaller cities (like mine). Not sure about them if you're out in the boonies. Not expensive, about 35,000 won for my 1500cc. I usually take the notice to my mechanic and he takes care of it every two years.
