| I'm considering just staying in Korea and seeing if there is anything to see, but if there's a good vacation to be had, on the cheap, I'd like to get out of this place. Any advice? |

What's your budget, in both time and money?
Late July is monsoon season in a lot of tropical Asian places. |

Go to Jeju Island or spend a week in Busan.
Aside from Korea, you could take a ferry to Japan or China. If you want to visit Tokyo, we bought RT tickets to Japan for $230 a person and you could stay in a hostel/eat cheap food. Always an option. Same for China, though if you're US American you need to get a passport ($130ish, I believe). The Phillipines are also inexpensive but a plane ticket will cost you more. |

| A million won is a really high budget. I bought a round trip to Hong Kong from Thai Air for 417,000. A co-worker is going to the Philippines for around 200,000 using Cebu Air (www.cebupacificair.com). I really just wanted to go to Shanghai (250,000 on Xanadu a few weeks ago). |

I'm also planning a trip in late July or early August and I'm thinking Bali or Thailand. Has anyone done either of these places around that time of year?
Other recommendations? |

| Thailand in late July? Better be a lover of hard rain about an hour a day, every day. Where I used to live, one could set his clock by the rain. Around 3 pm is a common time for a July and August deluge where I lived not far outside Bangkok. I've seen knee-deep water in parts of BKK during the rainy season. |

Outside of that hour, is the weather OK or still pretty miserable?
Bali a better choice? Geoje-do? |
