Hi Everyone,

Selling a North Face Spectrum 23 Tent. It's very wind and water resistant as we found out in Patagonia. We've only used it about ten times but we'd like a much bigger tent. It sells for well over $200 so I'm asking for 180 000 Won ($150), postage included.

The next item I'm selling is a Sigma 170 - 500mm lens. It's well used but has been looked after. I recently got a Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR so the Sigma is of absolutely no use to me. The black coating has rubbed off in a few places but that's normal for this lens. Optically it's the same as when I bought it. Asking price 380 000 Won.

PM me or email me at...

Laughing dang!

I was looking for a tent in Gwangyang Saturday morning. I went to the Homeplus and they didn't have any. I had the evening before tried at an E-Mart in Jinju but was told it was out of season, that it wasn't summer, and so they didn't have any yet.

I then continued on my journey to the west coast, went to beaches near Jido north of Mokpo Saturday afternoon and in the Wando area Sunday and at every friggin' beach there were multiple tents pitched, a perfect time to go camping. I stayed in motels away from the beach but am determined to get myself a tent for next weekend.

PM me your cell phone number and we'll talk.

Does the lens mount to a Canon, Nikon, or Pentax camera body?

Do you have any photos of the lens?

Sorry, slipped my mind. It's a Nikon mount.

Here are some pics. You'll see the paint peeling in a few spots, especially the tripod collar. But as I said, it's just cosmetic and it happens with these cheaper lenses.

I heard that optically this lens is what you might expect at this price... but the biggest problem is that it's apparently pretty hard to hand-hold. Still, I'm intrigued...

I'll give ya a free bump -- there's a beach volleyball tournament this weekend! It'd be a great lens for that! Razz

You are correct in saying this lens is not ideal for hand held shots. Having said that, it's only under certain conditions that this is a problem....

It's very long when fully extended and that can create a slight balance problem. This combined with the relatively poor speeds mean that it does take some practice to shoot at 500mm. It also means that getting great shots in poor light, or sharp images of rapidly moving subjects can just be out of your reach at times.

This is what you would expect though. I am making more and more money from my wildlife images and through time I've been able to justify more and more expensive equipment. This also means I have had the opportunity to try out many lenses. For a recent trip to Antarctica, I bought the Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR (This will set you back 6 000 000 Won in Korea and represents the best lenses in the world). This lens is very much the opposite of the Sigma in these respects - it's super fast, it has vibration reduction and is so balanced in the hand, despite weighing a hell of a lot more. But if you want that, you have to pay for it.

So, if you find yourself with a much lower budget you'll have to suffer from the resultant loss in quality. Now for the good news about the Sigma.
It's much easier to shoot in the 170 - 400mm range with very little practice. It's also very possible to get much better shooting at full extension with experience. Yes... you do need to get familiar with the lens to find out how to get the best out of it at the longer end. I wouldn't recommend buying it if you don't have some interest in improving your photoraphy skills a little. Just as I wouldn't recommend buying it without knowing what it's intended for. It's a low price lens with great potential in willing hands, as I found out when I started getting my images published as soon as I had mastered the lens.

It's not difficult though, and it's not my intention to make it sound that way. It's a fantastic lens for the price and it's actually easy to get to know.
