Yes, but native speakers can quickly learn how to teach a basic ESL/EFL class while the Korean teachers cannot quickly learn how to speak English in order to teach that very same class. PLUS a native English teacher must leave his/her country, quality of life, (and depending on where the school is located, western food) and culture. You really can't put a price tag on a native English speaker who is 1) good at teaching 2) can adapt to the new lifestyle 3) deal with a bad currency exchange rate and 4) not take off for any other country in the world where there aren't nuclear hostilities in that region.
*because, basically, a native English speaker can work in just about any country (s)he wants...a Korean teacher can only work in Korea or perhaps overseas where someone wants Korean language classes - supply and demand. |

Wow, that report totally tells the truth. The wealth is going to fewer and fewer people which is a global economic phenomenon.
Of course teachers are just a tad bit above the average and should be. It's the same at home. Teacher makes $25,000 to $40,000 annually while typical worker makes $15,000 to $25,000, sometimes in the 30's with the big bucks going to a select minority. . |

Where are you from?
Teachers in my neck of the woods are making 50-75k annually. |
