Hi everyone,

I was wondering what are the chances of passing the interview with EPIK. I had my interview last night, and am hoping it went well (on their side). I've searched and searched and have found other threads on people being rejected due to age and lack of certification, but have yet to find any threads about the chances on passing after the initial interview. My recruiter told me that once you get the interview you're pretty much set to getting the position. Is this true? Can I still be rejected after my interview?

I am currently 23 with a BA and a TEFL certification.

Thanks in advance everyone!

My recruiter told me the same thing. I had my interview last night and I think it went very well. Don't know the exact criteria they use, or if perhaps like immigration, it can depend on the person who interviews you and how they feel that day. I was told I will know within 3 business days so I'm looking to hear by Wednesday.

Well, I found out today that I passed my interview! Like I said in the other thread, I didn't feel like I did great, so hopefully it went well for you two as well.
Now, hopefully I can get my documents together by the end of the week to make sure I end up in Daejeon...although if I don't, I guess I'm okay with going more rural.

Edit: BTW, my interview was Friday, so I'd say it took only about 1-2 business days for me to hear back

What interview?
I have an EPIK job now, and I don't remember any interview except with the local school system.

Your're going to Daejeon too? Awesome! If I get the job, I'll be heading over there as well. Maybe we can meet up or something haha.

To the last two posters: The interview were talking about is the one that EPIK has with potential teachers. Mine was done over the phone since I am in the US at the moment.

Hahaha thats not how it was. It was actually quite professional and the woman that interviewed me was very good at speaking English. Just a little update, I spoke to my recruiter and I have been accepted. Thanks again for all your help everyone!

Do they ask any real questions? The ones listed are just too comical for anyone to really ask.

This is the list of questions my recruiter had on his website, my interview had a lot of these:

what would you do if you were given a class at the last minute?
how do you deal with stress?
why korea?
why do you want to be a teacher?
what teaching exp you have?
tell me about yourself
what do you expect will be the most difficult part about coming to korea?
what do you do in your free time?
age preference?
why do you think you'll be a good teacher?
strengths and weaknesses?
why public school?

And t1m1ty, I'd probably be up for meeting if we both end up in Daejeon...I don't know anybody there! So, we'll see what happens with placements I guess. Hopefully if I get my docs in the mail early next week I'll still be quick enough to get placed there.

I contributed these questions because they (i assume this is from esl-planet) asked what i remembered from the interview. Obviously everyone is not asked the same thing but most of these are a lock to be included...
