|
|
- 2MB had him killed for a variety of reasons. Bumping him off made his guilt look absolutely certain, and he wouldn't still be in prison as an example when it's time for 2MB to come under investigation in five years.
- The Norks had him killed because he knew too much and / or it was a good way to draw attention away from tests that will lead up to an invasion.
- Noh faked his own death, possibly using a double who was no longer needed, and is living in a secluded villa in NK.
Any others? It will be interesting to see what other information comes out about his 'body guard'. |

1. "Kill a man, and you make his quest a crusade" - Cigarette Smoking Man, X-Files. Nothing has turned public opinion against 2MB more than the pitiful suicide of a beloved former President, human rights lawyer, and all around nice guy with a kind face (remember, Korea is the opposite of Sprite: image is everything, taste is nothing).
2. The Norks WANT attention. Why else are they doing the missile tests? I bet Dear Leader is a tad annoyed at his former SK colleague's death, and maybe even misses him a bit (or, at least, misses his Sunshine Policy). Plus, how the hell can the Norks get anything done in SK?
3. I can't dispute this one, but it did make me lol a little.
My wife told me that some Korean truthers believe there's a conspiracy because the image file for Noh's obituary in Chosun Ilbo was named something like "Noh_522", but he died on May 23rd. I would so pull crap like that if I were the IT guy at a major newspaper, just for the lulz. |

From what I hear..
The bodyguard is changing what he said about being with him. Back and forth at that.
He jumped from a distance sure to cause injury but perhaps not death. Not something a smart person would do.
They moved him by ambulance not by helicopter and he was refused treatment at the first hospital which could have treated him. He was then moved to a second hospital where he died.
They have yet to perform an autopsy and may not. Apparently it's up to his family.

Apparently the suicide note requests cremation, which means soon it won't be possible for an autopsy. Also, the note was left on a computer, which is a bit odd.
The bodyguard's story makes no sense. Apparently after Noh jumped, the bodyguard didn't call anyone, but came down the mountain and took him to the hospital himself. It's probably worth pointing out that all these bodyguards are technically employees of 2MB.
At the landing point, all they found was a single shoe and a jacket. Not tons of blood like you'd expect.
The corruption investigation wasn't really going anywhere, but the government and media continued to pursue it. Contrast this with the investigations into 2MB's corruption, which disappeared long before they were concluded.
I'm not sure how much fact is in these and how much is just rumors that have passed by me. It makes no sense that the current president would kill him. Kind of reminds me of that one season of 24. |

His apparent demise can be explained thus:
1. He took up hang-gliding that morning. He got on one with two other people, but after taking off he was jettisoned to prevent critical loss of altitude. Other two flew on and crashed near Busan, as reported by the news.
2. He was told "... we can still be friends." on internet dating, as evidenced by the note left on computer.
3. He got a severe case of down-town push-down, went to a windy spot for discretion but rocket launched himself. He asked for a cigarette before hand, as smoke can camouflage odour very easily.
4. He knew he'd score poorly in his university entrance exam, therefore wanted to save face. |

I suspect the bodyguard pushed Roh himself. For what reason, who knows. But he is a suspect. Maybe he will end up getting shot in the next few days. |

Ah - I knew there was one plausible explanation I had forgotten to think of. |

I've got one... and it's a biggy.
I hear that Park Yeon-cha turned against him to save his own butt in a very serious situation (involving his daughter). If this turns out to be true, expect ALL shit to hit the fan. |

If he was pushed, it was by someone he trusted. Look at the inner circle. |

No way, this man was simply too mentally weak to stand up to his responsibilities and is a real pushover. I know the majority of Korean people morn, but he irresponsibly escaped responsibility through suicide. All it would had taken was a sincere apology which probably would had further freed the Korean people from all this tension in their culture by influencing them that we're all human and make mistakes. This man was not happy to start with to actually take his own life over shame surrounding some money and was not a real leader.
It's obvious, he was exposed of corrupt financial behavior so he took his own life out of extreme shame, but he also must had been mentally beaten down from hiding the feeling of guilt over the years for his actions. I'm dissappointed he went out bad in an irresponsible and reckless manner as that set a bad example. As a leader, you don't let down your followers, your people, and if you're a good leader, you're body guards don't assassinate you. Even if he wasn't a good leader, I don't believe he was murdered nor believe the NORKS had anything to do with it. This is a South Korean issue surrounding the dysfunctioning of their modern culture and nothing more. |

Robot, please talk to some Koreans about how sucide is viewed here in Asia. You are judging his action through "Western Goggles." You cannot judge his actions based on your values and customs. Educate yourself before you make ignorant statements. |

Grumpy, how is Robot wrong to think Noh escaped his responsibility (e.g. charges against him) to himself? |

First that pimp kills himself back in the fall and blamed the police, now President is dead, allegedly by his own hand. It's tragic! |

The traditional Korean/Japanese attitude towards suicide is prickly, melodramatic and immature. The sooner it becomes vestigial the better. |
