| I've searched for like 20 minutes and I can't seem to find a japanese non-job forum anywhere on dave's. So, does anyone know a good electronics market in fukuoka? Good prices, doesn't require you to smuggle in large amounts of cash in your socks to buy things? |

| You are aware that Japan is an expensive place for most anything, right? I'm not aware of any electrinic markets in Fukuoka. There is a very large (on the scale of Yongsan's Living and Digital) electronics store near Hakata station though. It's called Tamaguchi Camera. |

Except the prices for the two things I want are cheaper in Japan than Korea. The DSLR I want to get is around 140,000W cheaper in Japan (japanese brand) for the body and lens. I've actually found a website that compares prices of the product from various shops including the inshop price (not just internet price) but most of the shops seem to be in Tokyo. I'm hoping to find the same inshop price in fukuoka. |

| Oops. I made a mistake on the store name. It's Yodobashi Camera, NOT Tamaguchi Camera. It's very central in the city. If they don't have what you're looking for they may be able to tell you where else to try. |

Thanks I'm going to be staying at The Bee right beside Hakata station.
I don't speak any japanese... so hopefully the shop guy and I can work that out... |

| Yeah, I went there looking for an electric outlet adapter. No one there spoke English and I don't speak Japanese, but I still got what I needed. Good luck. |

If they don't have what you're after then probably won't find it anywhere else.
That said, yodobashi are often not the cheapest. They give quite a generous number of money back points on purchases if you have a Yodobashi discount card. Usually 1 point for every 10yen IIRC, whereas with other stores it's 1 point for every 100yen. However, they frequently factor this into their prices so that if you have a Yodobashi card you'll pay say 100,000yen at the time of purchase but will get 10,000yen in money back points - making that effectively 90,000yen if you're able to subsequently use those points.
Whereas at other stores like BestDenki you'll pay 95,000 for the same item but only get 1,000 in moeny back points - but will be better off if you're never going to buy anything else from there.
You could always do a search for the item you're after on Yodobashi's site. It is all in Japanese, but just put the model number in the search line and make sure the left green dot is checked. In the list you'll get prices are in red and the orange numbers are money back points for Yodobashi card holders.

They're extremely high on price compared to some other places I've looked.
I'm wanting to grab an ipod touch 32gb, I've seen a bunch of japanese shops advertising a price of 37,000Y and change here:

Apparently most of those are also inshop prices, problem is most of the shops are in tokyo. I haven't found someone who can speak japanese who can check them all to see if any are in fukuoka. yodobashi wants 47,000Y, I don't think so.

I don't really think they're going to be massively cheaper than Yodobashi, but the other place I'd recommend trying in Fukuoka is bic camera, who are near Tenjin station. Tenjin is the main downtown area of Fukuoka and is just a couple of stops away from Hakata on the subway. Bic have divided their Tenjin place into 2 stores. No.1 is a long one storey building underneath some train tracks, no.2 a narrower 5, 6 (or maybe more) storey building, just a minute's walk away.
Cameras are in no.2 building, up on the 4th or 5th floor.

The big blue thing on that map is Tenjin station building which is huge and houses an overground station of a private railway, an express bus terminal, Mitsukoshi department store as well as the subway station below ground. No. 1 Bic camera is at the south end of the Tenjin station building, but you have to go out of the station building to get there.
The first place in your kakaku link above is Takayama, a discount store/pawn shop who are based in Fukuoka. They have shops around Fukuoka prefecture, but none that I'm aware of in central Fukuoka City. The nearest one for you would be in Meinohama, in the west of the city. Easy to get to though, as it's the last stop on the subway line from Hakata. Link below for the location. I've never used Takayama though, so I don't really know if they'd be worth a visit.

There is an extensive electronics market (two streets cross each other, about 20+ places, some big, many small) in Fukuoka. I bought some stuff there in 2004. GREAT variety, from ultra cheap Chinese imports to state of the art Japanese and American stuff. Every price range and function. Really impressive.

| Yodobashi (the largest) just behind Hakata Station. Bic Camera (sells everything - not just cameras) has 2 locations in Tenjin; one is under the subway tracks and the other is just around the block from there next to the park. Next to ACROS Fukuoka in Tenjin there in Best Denki. |

I ended up getting the stuff at BIC. I also got it tax free because I was a tourist.
Prices were okay, not near as good as the ones I found in the tokyo shops. if I had more time and someone who knew more japanese maybe I could have found those prices. Ah well. |
