Thanks. I'll take a look tomorrow.

I'm telling anyone who'll listen to check out Blue Gold - World Water Wars atm. Torrent only though I'm afraid, but the guy who made it has okayed it for free download.

A disturbing eye opener to say the least.

To have a good grasp of the word's drinking water situation, you might watch FLOW: For Love of Water, the companion film to this book. This is an excellent movie too.

Or for a quick overview on the debate on bottled water, see Penn & Teller's report - The Truth About Bottled Water

If you want a good book about food which isn't full of hippie nonesense, veggie rubbish, or conspiracy theories I recommend "The Omnivore's Dilemna". It's a great great book that gets into all the facts about food production in all its manifestations; from factory farming to hunting and gathering. Really great read.

Rather than feed starving idiots and proliferate environmental degredation due to ballooning population numbers, methinks it makes more sense to control populations.

Africa, Indonesia, India, Haiti, etc are among the fastest reproducing countries on earth. Their environments are on the verge of being completely destroyed, while they grow addicted to UN handouts and quadruple their populations.

Malaria in Ethiopia is a GOOD thing.

I think we should be giving them real aid, not handouts. Give them the tools to grow their own food and make their own wells for water. We shouldn't just be dumping our excess food on them.

It's like the beggars on the street. The worst thing to do is give them money. They should be given the means to find employment. The mentally ill ones should be institutionalized. The drug addicted ones, rehab. Giving them money demotivates them and gets them addicted to handouts.

Look at the success of micro loans in India and Bangladesh. Huge success and well recieved. That's really what the people want - a hand to get them on their way to self-sufficiency.

I'm reading it now. Got it from Kyobo Tower Bookstore. Only through the first couple of chapters, but so far the author doesn't sound like a pompous #%&^**(0). I find the history of corn fascinating. I never thought I'd ever say that.
