I've made up my mind that I want to teach English in Seogwipo, Jeju Island. I'm having a hard time finding a job there. I want to work mid-afternoon and evenings. Something like 3-10.
If you or someone you know is leaving his/her job soon, please contact me. I can start working as soon as June 15.
Thanks in advance!!! |

Thanks for the link. During the last 6 weeks or so, there hasn't been anything to pick from in Seogwipo besides public school which I am not interested in. I've emailed every recruiter I've come across who advertises for jobs in Jeju, and I have a friend in Jungmun helping me with word of mouth. |

We all wish you the best of luck. Even though there are a load of jobs out there, it can be frustrating if a) you want to stay, b) you know where exactly you want to work and what you want in terms of salary and conditions, and c) nothing comes up!
More people should be as proactive. Cheers, and let us know how things pan out. |

I don't know your financial situation Ed, but if you've got some savings here's what I think you should do:
Finish up your commitment until June 15th and keep trying to find work down there. If nothing comes up, head down to Seogwipo and get a place to live and a scooter. Hit the bricks, meet some people and fire off as many resumes as you can. Let it be known that you're already living there. The worst that'll happen is you'll have to wait until someone who's already there finishes up their current contract, and then you'll slide right in. In the meantime you'll have already explored the island on your scooter, and gotten yourself a nice tan and a new girlfriend. |

I've actually been on vacation in Korea for 3 months since my contract ended. I'm waiting on my CBC to come in the mail, hence the June 15th start date. One week during that vacation was in Japan and I received another 3 month tourist visa stamp that goes to the end of July. About two weeks ago I spent 10 days in Jungmun at my buddy's house and that's when I realized exactly where I want to be.
Anyways, I like your thinking. I'll probably head back to Jungmun on Monday, start looking for a used car to buy, and play the waiting game there on the beach with my tan and new gf. |
