SONY CX12 is a memorystick HD camera from mid-2008. Comes with Sony wide angle lens, disc, 4gb sony memorystick, battery, docking station, USB wire, power cord (NTSC - north american), 1year extra warranty for USA only, 2months world wide warranty remaining.. **It's in perfect working order and body/lens is without any scratches.

This model rocks because you needn't buy any additional memory cards. Just record until the card fills up, then you can use a computer and a very cheap external hard drive and transfer the videos to the external hard drive. Erase the video on the memorystick and you are good to go. It's very small and sleak and can easy pack into a purse or jacket pocket!

**600,000won

1,002,248.97 won

So, for the "honor" of living in Korea, I get to pay 300,000 more won for a product? WOW!!! I feel so lucky.

I don't think it's fair to address the exchange rate when both parties are living in Korea (the difference that you are noting is actually based on what Koreans would pay for something new from the US, not something an American would buy from another American). We could buy low in America, come to Korea, sell high, and make a nice profit from people who feel like kings and queens squandering their money.

The Korean government has decided to cap the economy so we lose 20% of our earnings (read it, it's in the paper). It isn't that the won shouldn't be worth more, it's the government has decided they don't want it to be worth more so they can export.

If you are aware of this, you should be selling things closer to 1,000 won/dollar. What difference does it make if you sell item A to person 1 for 200, and they sell another item for 200 or if you sell that same item for 100? The middle to last guy loses out in the end, and the first person ends up with 100,000 more because of something the government has decided to do with our money. Sounds a lot like a pyramid scheme.

If you really want to complain about not getting enough, I think you ought to look at that instead of squabbling about getting 300,000 from a used product which isn't really worth the inflated 1,000,000 won.

Dude, you're way overthinking this. He's selling it for what he wants to get for it. If you don't think the exchange rate should be used when calculating an item's worth, or if you think somehow it should magically change to 1,000 won to the dollar, you're the one who needs some tips on economics, not him.

$800 is worth 1,000,000. That's the simple truth. you are not paying 300,000 more in won. The exchange rate is not 1000 to 1 any more nor has it been for a long time.

I don't think it is fair to make it seem as if the op is trying to rip people off by posting low prizes from other countries, without mentioning what country the price is from nor providing links (still yet to see the 700 source).

You also seem to forget that a large number of people here are not american, we don't have an american domestic address to post to we don't have an american credit card (high exchange fees) and to get certain things (like cameras) shipped here suffers from high import duties

This bit makes no sense if you are making won you have to convert it to american dollars to buy stuff in the states

let's all just chill.

It's real simple. Electronics more expensive in Asia. They are cheaper in North America. So, you compare and contrast amazon and ebay new and used costs.

real simple,

I never stated the op was ripping anyone off. We all have access to a computer hooked up to the internet here, and we can all look up the prices online. I was simply putting an exclamation mark on the proverbial "Buyer Beware". I have sold items on here, and when it comes to electronics, I personally wouldn't use the market prices to determine what I should sell a product for to a fellow teacher. It's also not about economics, if you want to be treated like a businessman you might be politely declined without any talk. If you want to be treated like a fellow teacher and create a warmer environment than one imposed on us by the government, that's also your chose. I won't condemn another person for being businesslike, and I don't want to be condemned for being warmer.

So, Buyer Beware! It has nothing to do with the seller, I don't know the person. If anything, they seem like a legit person. They are talking about this which many never do. I shall promote my philosophy and ethics regarding this, and I hope others do too.
