|

Hi.......
I was just wondering if anyone who has been down to the festival before can tell me if there is any major difference between the two weekends of the festival. Is one weekend more crowded? Different events? Also, do you think it would be necessary to book a place to stay in advance, or can we just show up and find a room?
Thanks. |

I went the second weekend last year. I went with Adventure Korea, which cost more than if I'd done it myself, but meant that I was in a minbak right on the beach, about 5 minutes walk from the main square. We did the mud activities at the actual mud beach which was fun, then got a bus into the main festival area.
This year I'm going with AK again, but for the first weekend. I'm not aware of any huge difference between the weekends, but I could be wrong. The 2nd was heaps of fun last year and I'm expecting the 1st to be the same this year.
If I were going alone I would book accommodation in advance. Last year some friends of mine who went by themselves were staying about 20 minutes walk from the festival area (which would suck, because I went back and forth to my minbak multiple times each day). I'm pretty sure they booked ahead too. So I guess the lesson is to get a Korean speaking friend to book ahead for you and make sure that the minbak is pretty close to the main festival area (i.e. where the stage is).
Have fun! |

Make reservations now. The foreigner help line and/or tourism line can help if you don't speak the Korean language.
The dates on the website are wrong, they are off by a day. The festival is from Saturday July 11 to Sunday July 19 (not the 12-20). |

I'm going with some enormous charter group that cost 97,000W for the bus ride and two nights accommodations. I feel like I might be overpaying but I didn't know better when I did it. First weekend btw. |
