OK, Guys I�ve gotten about 20 PMs lol this thread was to say later to you all.

I am not recruiting for China Nor am I going to answer every PM lol I�ve been back and forth to Korea FOR many years. However, I stayed not for the teaching/money but for a girl he he he we can all understand that. And the crazy thing she wasn�t even a Korean just doing ALL her grad work here.

Member my contracteee finisheee tomorrow! I will take a few days or so saying goodbye and traveling around to see some peeps then a nice LONG LONG vacation somewhere in SE Asia or South America.


Then start the new academic year in Beijing China! (Unless, the Vietnam school out bids their offer) Yes, and I will start there at more than I am making here and I am capped in the PS system. However, unlike Korea degree types, advanced degrees and experience ALL play a factor in how much one can make.

If you want to find a job in China that pays there are five ways:

1. Goggle
2. Goggle
3. Goggle
4. Use the China forums -not a Korean jobsite/forum
5. Go there and apply to the good schools


Here is an example: But like I said degrees and such actually matter. There are Tons of bilingual/AP/IB/MYP/English preps etc., schools all over China! Really all over the world! I mean tons and they all start either at the same level or more than Korea currently pays. NOW, one very big difference they generally expect you to be professional and thus wont hold your hand or baby you through the applications.

The reason Korea always did is because they always CHOOSE to get the young inexperienced and babied them through to get bodies in the classrooms. But, once they were here����..well you know the story. Thus, they have ALWAYS had difficulty retaining experienced people. Either they go home or they find out about the stuff above and Jump ship.



Ok, here is and example from Hong Kong which is one of the best in the world.

� A teacher/administrator/coordinator position pays more, as much as US$120,000 annually. In 2000, the government was recruiting secondary school teachers for its native English-speaking teacher scheme (NET) for salaries ranging from US$26,000 to more than US$70,000, depending on qualifications. All of these full-time positions offer health and retirement benefits and a housing allowance�

As, you can see $26-70K isn�t a bad start. And I found an even better school. = ) This year alone five of my friend made the jump to schools around the world.

While we're on this subject, I'd be interested in a comparison between here and China (in terms of EFL related stuff).
Has anyone had experience in both countries? If so, what's it like over there?
Is China full of unscrupulous hagwon owners too? What are public schools like? Any information would be great.

This job must be the postings in Hong Kong, that's the only place where you could, in theory, make more than working smart in Korea.

But, again, I must reiterate that when I was in the running for those jobs the program was brand new and housing was not provided (which is kind of a problem in a massive city like HK).

If other Dave's members really want to make money at ESL they need to try and find a place in rural Japan (save money) or try and get a gig somewhere in Europe (my old roomie worked illegally in Spain for a number of years and made a decent wage).

However, working in China sounds like it could be quite fun.
