|
|
Hi,
just wondering if anyone knows for sure where tickets can be purchased for the June 10th (vs. Saudi Arabia) and June 17th (vs. Iran) games to be played in Seoul.
I'm guessing Hana Bank (where the tickets for the N. Korea game were sold), but I'd rather know for sure before I go?
Also, anyone want to suggest which game would be better? i.e. which game will they likely clinch a spot in the finals?
Thanks in advance. |

110% you can get them at Hana.... And why not go to both games? At 20k a piece for cheap seats you really can't go wrong LOL
(And even if the games suck, beer is only 2-3k for a tall boy ) |

Uh, won't they clinch a spot in the "finals" if they win or tie vs. UAE on Saturday? |

No, they won't. It's possible that a win, or even a draw depending on the DPRK v Iran result earlier on the same day, away to the UAE will guarantee them at least 3rd place, which means a play-off with the 3rd team in the other Asian group to decide who then plays-off against New Zealand for a place in the finals.
But it's the 1st and 2nd who qualify automatically for the finals and they won't clinch that this weekend. With the top 3 teams only a point apart and obviously all wanting to avoid ending up in 3rd place, it could well be quite tight right up until the final game v Iran.
I'd second the advice to go to both games. Just W20,000 is a bargain really. |

Hmmmm.... I just looked at the standings:
SK: 11pts (5 games)
NK: 10 pts (6 games)
SA: 10 pts (6 games)
IR: 6 pts (5 games)
Top 2 go on to the finals.
Since NK and SA play each other, it is not possible to have a higher combination of 16pts (for the team that wins the NK:SA game) and 13 pts (the team that loses). So 14 pts (which would occur with an SK win over UAE would do it. Draw, would not. This is assuming NK beats IR.
If IR beats NK, then they could still also get more than 14 pts (15 to be exact if they won their last three games). If the two Koreas win IR is eliminated and SK is in. The last spot would be determined by the NK:SA game). If both the Koreas lose, then those two games could be interesting with both the teams they're playing fighting for a qualifying spot.
I guess I just answered my question huh? |

Actually, I tried to edit my post above just after I'd submitted it, but the speed of this website did its usual evening tricks and I couldn't get back to my message.
I had forgotten that SA and DPRK play each other in their last game. So that does mean that a win for Korea in UAE would see them through this weekend. A draw wouldn't, but it would be enough to guarantee at least 3rd place depending on the result earlier in the day.
Aaaargh whatever, OP, just go to both games!! |

Do you think they will be sold out or could I just buy them at the gate? |

even the game against Norht Korea didn't sell out, you can buy them at the gate. It's handier to go to hana bank though, no need to queue. |

There probably won't even be that big of a queue. Just get there earlyish, get your ticket and then head to the little stream or the family mart for a beer and watch the atmosphere build. I'm lucky, there's a hana bank 5 mins from my school and the korean teachers think its great that i go to watch korea so they've no problem with me disappearing to get tickets. |

Do like I did and tell the school you need to go out on your lunch break, and might be back a few minutes late... Shoudn't be a problem if you're not missing class time... |

both games KO at 8pm.
They drew 0-0 with Oman in a warm up last night, Ki sung-yueng of fc seoul missing a penalty. |

BTW, it's a mellow crowd at these games. The Koreans are loud, at times, but, hey- it's soccer- so the games aren't super exciting. Bring a camera and take some pics of yourself at a game. Your co-workers and students will be shocked ( ) to see you at one of these games. I'm the only person I've met in Korea who's attended one of these games, and that includes Korean co-workers and students.
Oh, and there are restaurants, including a huge food court, in the stadium (outside, but part of the stadium structure). They do get VERY crowded after 6 pm the night of a game. |

They SHOULD let you go to get tickets for this. After all, it is in support of the Korean World Cup effort. |
