I'm sure this has been asked/answered hundreds of times here, but as you know, the quality of the search feature here leaves something to be desired.

Anyways, I have a single-entry visa and I was wondering if they cause problems for you when you arrive back in Korea from a trip over seas.
I'm aware that a multiple-entry visa is designed specifically for this, but is it actually necessary?

You aren't very patient are you? Nonetheless, the multiple entry visa allows you to come and go as you please. The single entry only allows one entry. If you want to exit and come back on the same visa, you must get a re-entry permit. You can do this at the airport. If you don't have this, your visa will be finished when you leave the country. You can also convert your visa to a multiple entry. It depends on how many times you plan on leaving and coming back.

You have to do it before you leave. You can do it on the immigration website.
