Does anyone have any experience with this school? It's close to Anyang. Thanks. |

I would stay as far away from Deli English school as you can. The director "Kelly" is trying to start trouble because I left the school and do not want to go back there. That is what happens when I get lied to about the Visa process, have to deal with immigration, and end up having to leave the country. Then, Kelly tells me if I don't go along with what she tells immigration at my appointment with them, they will investigate further and I will not be able to leave South Korea. I think she just didn't want to get more fines for the school. It was all about the school. Some jobs are not worth the money that they will pay you. They do not live up to their contractual obligations and overwork the English teachers. I was told by my agency if my classes end at 4:30 then that is when I can leave. They expect teachers to stay at the school until 6:30 every day and use a time card to clock in and out. If you expect to get initial training, this school will not have any. My training amounted to an hour of B-- S--- the night before I started work and I was handed a bunch of textbooks I had never used before. The meetings are lovely too...one meeting was all about giving the students more stickers to make the parents happy. Real important, right?
I will miss the students and the teachers, but administration needs an overhaul. Thank goodness I am no longer there. ( : |

I for one think this fills a real need. Imagine if all the Subway Sandwich workers in Kora (sic) took a class at Deli English.
What kind of bread?
What kind of meat?
What kind of cheese?
Mayo/Mustard?
You want that toasted?
Lettuce, tomato?
Oil, vinegar?
Would you like to add a soda and chips to make it a "meal?" |

I think that my friend worked there. Is it also called Delicious English? The boss was named Kelly and she made a habit of being mean and outrageous. The July vacation came around and my friend had one month left on her contract, but decided never to return.
She had professional teaching credentials and got treated like that...so I hope the OP stayed far away...and you should too! |

I have an interview with this school today. The one in Anyang. Does anyone know anything about what this school is like NOW? The last post is from 2010...it is really negative and I'm wondering if it has improved at all. |

It's a solid school, they pay on time, generally support their teachers, etc. If you're comfortable with kindergarten and the hours, it's a pretty good place to work.
As for the post above, illysook's friend didn't choose not to return, she was fired for deciding to go on vacation in the middle of the semester to work on a mission in India for a week. She gave her managers one week's notice prior to said vacation (vacation that wasn't included in the contract, mind you), and came back to her replacement waiting for her. When she left, she destroyed all the furniture in her apartment and spread trash throughout the place. Yes, the previous manager was a bit of a dunce, but this is one of those situations where a crappy employee is bringing down the reputation of a pretty solid school.
Anyway, feel free to PM me if you have any further questions. Also, if you join the Anyang group on Facebook some of the folks who work there now will give you the scoop. |

Thanks for getting back to me. I can't pm you until I have 25 posts apparently, what an annoying rule. In the meantime what is the facebook group you're referring to? |

"Teaching in Anyang, South Korea"
I've recommended a few people to the place, fwiw. If it's your first job in Korea, you're not going to find anything significantly better, particularly if you're applying to hagwons. |
